I'm 33 and I still hide little things from my mom. For example...I never tell her when LO is sick because that leads to long lectures about how I shouldn't work.

Yep. I hide my Harry Potter books when my dad visits because he wouldn't like it. My DH thinks I'm ridiculous. I probably am.

I have never said one swear word in front of my parents before, or my siblings. Just DH (probably too much) and friends. ETA: but the crazy thing is, they all have potty mouths!

Same!!! I make the mistake of telling my mom that LO dropped precentiles at her 9 month appt and the Dr wants her nursing more/eating more fats. Now my mom asks almost every time we talk how much she nursed that day, is she eating enough, did I weigh her etc.
She is a nurse so she always has horror stories about worst case scenario things too, like "This one friends sister aunts baby started with a fever and then was seizing withing minutes because the temp spiked so quickly. So make sure as soon as she gets warm you give her meds so she won't die...." Thanks mom, that's helpful :T

Not really. I'm sure there's stuff I don't tell them, but just because it's not their business, not because it's a secret.

@autumnlove: yep! I hid most of our breast milk jaundice drama from them bc a) they would be super worried about her and b) My mom thinks BFing is "gross" and pushes formula on me, and I didn't want more of that! She told me that she didn't think I'd BF for very long bc I will just feel like a big boob, and that has motivated me to prove her ass wrong.

I don't really hide things, but there's just some things I don't tell them.

Nope... then again I never really hid things from them. My mom knows more than I'm sure she ever cared to. lol

Yes, all the time. I'm a very private person, so I don't tell my mom anything about my relationship with DH. It's for her own good, because she worries too much over nothing.

I can't think of anything. I did hide TTC from my Mom, which was hard since we talk almost every day, but I wanted to surprise her with the big news.

@autumnlove: I don't know exactly why. It's something to do with being Christian. He didn't explain the reasons when he told me I couldn't read them as a kid.

Yeah... It just makes things easier than telling then and then listening to a lecture.

I used to tell my mom everything until just this week. We got into an argument and my feelings were really hurt...I haven't called her in three days, which is very very rare. I'm sure my mom feels sorry and is letting me blow off some steam...I'm so smad (sad/mad) at her! But I'll get over it.

@Bao: I never swear in front of my parents.
I hide some things because some things are none of their business anymore.

Things like my finances or problems I hide because they are nosy. I also don't tell them details about my work outs because they always have (uninformed) opinions about that. I actually don't share too much because they are too full of advice
