I take it off every year! But I get to make my own schedule so I don't feel guilty. I usually take it off and work a day I would have taken off. I just like waking up whatever time I want, eating whatever I want, partying hard and then staying up late.

Occasionally! I work for myself so usually i purposely dont schedule anything for that day, I remember my favorite birthday a few years ago, my husband pretended to go off to work in the morning as usual. And then he came back half an hour later with flowers and spent the whole day with me! He had already arranged the day off and left in the AM to trick/surprise me. It was the best day

I don't but my boss usually sends me home. At DH's work it counts as a paid holiday so he's always off on his bday.

@sweetchic: how sweet! I would be thrilled if DH ever did that!

At my first job (banking) we got our birthday off as a paid holiday. If it fell on a day we weren't open or they couldn't give us that particular day for whatever reason we got the next available day so having a birthday on a Saturday or Sunday was the best because then I got a 3 day weekend.

Next job was teaching. I have a summer birthday so I always had it off.

Current job (well, soon to be current) is sahm so I guess the answer is no, no day off.

I can't because my birthday falls on the worst day of the year for us (fiscal year end). I did take off for our wedding anniversary, though ^_^
