I definitely don't and he doesn't want to know.
I definitely don't and he doesn't want to know.

Yep. He sees them if I don't tell him because all of our accounts are joint.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
Nope. I figure some things he doesn't need to know I manage the finances so he doesn't even notice.
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
Not really. I have my own account for stuff, so I don't always let him know if i went shopping or what I bought.
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
Generally, yes unless it's regarding food. Hubby does the same with me.
GOLD / wonderful grape / 20289 posts
We have a joint account. I'm so thrifty, it's very rare for me to buy something I don't NEED anyway.
bananas / 9899 posts
Not all of them. Smaller purchases are not his business really. Bigger things I do. like for instance I just bought myself a Kindle Paperwhite and I mentioned it to him.
Yes, I have my own "separate" money, but I consider all of our money, well, OUR money.
cantaloupe / 6800 posts
Yep! Our money is together, so even if I only spend $20 I like to let him know. He does the same for me, and I wouldn't be okay with it being any other way.

We have all joint accounts so he 'knows' but he doesn't police it and I don't report all shopping. Kind of like don't ask don't tell? lol!
coconut / 8854 posts
Yes, we both watch our budget very closely (we are just getting by) and we both watch our spending and always know what we have in accounts/what our balance is on our credit cards.
pomegranate / 3204 posts
No, even though our money is together, I only tell him about larger purchases.
GOLD / cantaloupe / 6581 posts
Yes, we have a very tight budget and have to account for every $ of it! That being said, if I want a 1$ kindle book I don't ask permission lol
grapefruit / 4649 posts
He sees them all but I still mention most purchases. If it is a standard purchase (gas, groceries) I don't but usually it is more like "I went to the scrapbooking store today." I don't usually spend more than $15 or so without discussing it anyway even if it's "hey we need lightbulbs, do you need anything else from the hardware store."
watermelon / 14206 posts
Nope, I have my own money for spending how I like. I only tell him if I'm super excited about something I got, lol
pomelo / 5720 posts
Not unless it's something big. I'm not sure he'd be thrilled about what I spend on non-necessesities, but he doesn't ask so I don't offer
pear / 1879 posts
I usually do. But then I always seem to justify why I needed it or how it was on such a good sale!
pomegranate / 3895 posts
No. Our money is only partially combined, so anything that is just for me would come out of my own account. I certainly don't hide purchases from him, but I also don't feel compelled to tell him about every purchase I make
cantaloupe / 6397 posts
Mostly. Not small purchases though, like if I buy food or something, or if I use cash. If I use debit or credit for more than $10 I usually do.
GOLD / squash / 13464 posts
Yup because I like to show off my purchases : ) Our money is all joint but I primarily manage it so he wouldn't notice. But I'm really not a huge shopper so he's never given me a hard time about buying something and I don't shop outside our means so I have no motivation not to tell him.
blogger / pomegranate / 3300 posts
Right now we are scrutinizing everything in our budget so have. Budget tracker that is shared.
watermelon / 14467 posts
I try to. Our checking accounts are separate (we have a joint savings), and I don't think I would want it any other way.
blogger / eggplant / 11551 posts
Yep - we have a joint account and share everything.
pineapple / 12793 posts
Usually, but not because he's the money police just in the course of conversation. 'Went shopping today and got this sweater, do you like it?' Kind of way.
wonderful pea / 17279 posts
Pretty much. He would see new stuff around the house. Same thing with him, any time he buys a new gadget or motorcycle apparel he always wants to show me.
pineapple / 12802 posts
Depends... I don't think we tell each other everything, and I'm not going to tell him if I bought some soup for lunch but if I buy some new clothes I'll show them to him. Our accounts are joined, he'd see the money go anyway.
squash / 13764 posts
Our accounts are joint, so he sees everything, but I tell him anyway because I like to share
pomegranate / 3872 posts
I don't specifically tell him but we have the same account so he can see whatever he wants. I'd tell him if I was going to spend a lot though. I have my own account that he can't see the statements but I have to get cash to pay my bills so I can't really keep any secrets if I wanted to.
pomegranate / 3716 posts
Yes to maybe about 70% of my purchases. I always feel a bit guilty if I DON'T tell him about things, unless it's really small.
