I voted "not sure". We have had some baaaaad nights from teething where I would be willing to try anything that might work to help her. But, the risks of letting her walk around in a tight stretchy necklace with small beads on it just do not outweigh the benefits for me, especially given that those benefits aren't really proven.

I read about how they are supposed to work...do I believe that the amber has analgesic properties? Yes. Do I believe that it can be delivered in the quantity necessary to soothe tooth pain? No.

No, I do not think for one second that they actually work.

They scare the bejeebus out of me, but my mother raised me to be paranoid about falling asleep with any sort of necklace on , lol.

Health Canada warns against them so I won't be using one....I doubt they work anyway.

They scare me!! I wouldn't put one on R but most people IRL that did try said it didn't help at all.

I don't know if it worked but DS never had much drooling/fever/red cheeks/fussiness with his teeth and I did have one on him (just during the day, I didn't want him sleeping with it).
And I thought that he looked like a cute surfer boy with his long hair and necklace, haha

I don't know. I'm not super big on homeopathic stuff, but I also know several people IRL who swear by them. Not sure if we'll consider using one or not but if people think they help and are comfortable with them I don't see an issue.

I call BS. The theory is that amber releases succinct acid under high temperatures and that it absorbs into the skin to help with pain. It's true that amber can release that acid, and whether or not it has healing properties is debatable - there are studies on both sides. However, our body temperature is not high enough to release that acid from amber, and even if it was, the tiny trace amounts that would be absorbed by our skin are not enough to do anything. Our bodies actually naturally contain some succinct acid - WAY more than we would absorb through the amber, so if it made that big of a difference I don't think you'd even need the necklace.

I agree with some PPs about it being a placebo effect where the parent feels like it's helping. Usually I hear them say, "Oh, there's still some bad nights/days, but not too many." But that's been my general experience of how teething goes. Some teeth are more difficult and lead to a rough night, some come in totally unnoticed. I'd be concerned about it becoming a choking hazard - I know there are measures in place to prevent that, but in my opinion (and science's opinion) there's a bigger risk than there is benefit.

I don't know if they work, but I hate the way they look on kids so none for LO.

I have no idea if they work but I love how they look so LO has worn one since he was 9 months old. We like to say that it actually prevented him from teething at all because he got 2 teeth at 9 months and nothing else until 13.5 months =P

I'm not convinced they work but we were gifted an anklet one so I try it occasionally, mostly because I would do almost anything to help her when she is in pain.

I was skeptical and then DH did research and called BS so our son doesn't wear one. We're both engineers and he didn't feel like there was any scientific evidence proving they work

I'm on the fence but I have noticed a difference in drooling and I've never felt it was unsafe so we continue to use it. It definitely wasn't the magic necklace that some of my friends said it was!

I used one with DS ever since he was 6 months old, so who knows if they really work, but honestly, teething hasn't been bad for us. He never drooled either, was always pleasant during the day, though there were some nights we suspected it was his teeth hurting, so we gave him some teething drops and he was off to sleep right away. I don't necessarily buy the science to it, but even if it's placebo, hey, it's working for us, or soooo I thinkkkk. It could very well be his personality too. We'll have to test this with Baby #2.

I have no idea why so many people believe that these help with teething. There is zero scientific evidence that they have any effect. I think they are cute and they are a good visible cue to others (like childcare providers) that the baby is teething and that the parent is trying to help. Parents feel good about themselves for trying to make their LO feel better, so they tell themselves that the necklaces work. We will not be getting one for our LO.

We have one and hope and pray that it helps, but I have no idea if it does anything. I got a "bracelet" on etsy.com and put it on LOs ankle. Then cover it with a sock. At night I don't worry since he is also in a sleep sack so can't access it at all.

I'm so paranoid about choking/strangling so I don't trust them.

No idea. But I don't feel comfortable with my LO wearing something around his neck constantly. Also I don't really like the look of them.
