I used to think the answer was yes, but am starting to come down on the "no" side. I think having an internet directory people is great... it's all the time wasting and other stuff that's been turning me off.

I don't waste too much time on facebook. I waste way more time on hellobee. But I like facebook, I like seeing what everyone is up to.

I would probably say no for younger kids since it seems to be used as a bullying tool. But yes for older people since it's nice to be able to stay in touch with people whom you would usually lose contact with.
But honestly, it really annoys me when people blame facebook itself for problems in the world. Facebook is not the problem, the people using it are the problem.

I say no due to various reasons like increased self absorbtion and Internet bullying. I also read recently how it is making young girls too concerned with their appearance because they feel the need to always be photo ready in case anyone tags them. The list goes on and on about why I do not like FB.

A better place? No. There are users who use it to internet bully and those who are too young to have it and don't use it appropriately. Plus, users who post too much info and get in trouble with their employer or the law. Or those who don't know enough to check their own profile to limit who sees what.
I think it's convenient for me to be able to keep in touch with people, especially because of where I live.

I like it for the reasons I use it, which is to keep up with old friends who are far away. I went to college before the days when everyone had a smartphone, heck, you had to get special permission from a math prof to get an email address.
I do agree though, that things like bullying are easier when you're behind a screen and for that, I worry.

No, too many people have lost all sense of privacy due to facebook, i mean some people just dont filter what they put on facebook. At all.

For me I really like it. We live across the country from most of our friends and family. Facebook allows us to feel connected to what's going on in our friends' everyday lives. Otherwise we only manage to talk with most of our friends via phone or email every few months.

there is no privacy due to sites like facebook. I feel like I have to keep my page just to keep an eye for what people are posting, if its involving myself or LO. people are too careless with what they are posting.

I'm not on facebook either. I agree that despite the positives that facebook is overall negative - too much over sharing and superficial relationships

Personally, I like FB but I don't think it's making the world better since there's so many dumb-asses out there abusing it for their own nefarious purposes. In general, I think kids are too young and naive to be allowed on any kind of social media account since I've seen too many potentially damaging photos/posts on FB. Don't even get me started on the topic of cyber-bullying and the popularity contests......

It makes my world a better place, but not the world in it's entirety. It is a convenient means to keep in touch with family and friends that I normally would not be in contact with on a daily basis. I love it for sharing photos and silly things.

No. But it sure makes it convenient to keep in touch with friends and family far away. I couldn't care less about the idiots using it to bully people - if they're not using FB to do it, they'll find something else.
