Do you look your age?

Until quite recently I looked younger. I used to get IDd (carded, you would say) all the time - and our legal age is 18! But then, about a year ago, I looked in the mirror and thought "woah, I'm looking old!". It's been downhill ever since.....!

I think people think I'm older but more for circumstances (married with a kid) than how I look.

I think people here know my age... Or could find it easily. If not, how old do I look?

I'm 27 and still get carded almost everywhere I go. I can still pass for 18 sometimes. It's definitely worse if I haven't done my makeup/hair. Given that my husband is much older than me, I'm sure a lot of people think I'm his kid. A checker in Target did once!

I think I look younger. Last year while 4 months preg, (wasn't showing much) I was asked if I was a college intern at work, then again at work last week as well. I'm 27.

I look younger, at least that's what most people tell me.

I think I might have looked a year or two younger before pregnancy (not much), but now I feel like I totally look my age. Sad face.

I seriously hate being so fair (which = thin, dry, wrinkle prone skin) when my husband who has LOTS of melatonin will probably never have wrinkles. SIGH. DOUBLE SIGH. I might give myself a present for the end of breasfeeding in a year 1/2--botox! heh.

If this were a gold thread, I would totally show pics that highlight the wrinkles, lol.

@Mrs. Pen: I have no clue! I think everyone looks my age though, LOL! Late 20s?

@Anagram: I'm with ya on the wrinkles! I'm super pale too but they're a TON worse when I wear my glasses. For some reason I constantly shrug my forehead/nose up which creates wrinkles all across my forehead!

Younger. People are always asking how HS is or if I'm enjoying my (insert holiday/season) break. I'm 27, almost 28!

Here's a convo I had just 2 weeks ago with a customer of ours:
    Him: How's school?
    Me: I already graduated.
Him: Oh I know you've graduated from HS. I meant College.
Me: That's what I meant. I graduated from college 7 years ago with a double major from OU....
Him: Oh. haha! Okay. see you later.
    Me: (O_O)

@LindsayInNYC: @Anagram: I'm with ya on the wrinkles! I feel like I used to look young for my age, but now I have those darn wrinkles on my forehead. Lovely. I don't have any crow's feet or smile lines. Just ones from scowling. Nice to know I obviously am scowling all the time!

@Anagram: @LindsayInNYC: @Amelieisme: Retin A is your friend ladies . . . seriously! Regular use will take at least 5 years off your appearance age.

@MsLipGloss: Seriously? I have Ziana gel which is a combo of Clindamycin (antibiotic) and Tretinoin (Retin A) - I heard it worked for wrinkles but never consistently used it. Just apply every day?

@Mrs. Pen: If someone sent me this pic and said "this is my 18 year old sister holding my son" - I wouldn't think twice

Reasonably.. I know that is likely not the case - so I am going to say mid 20's

I look way younger I'm 31 and got carded for an r rated movie, booze, and lotto tickets within the past month.

  15. MsLipGloss

    GOLD / pineapple / 12662 posts

@LindsayInNYC: Yep! Sometimes it takes spacing out a few applications a week to build up to being able to apply daily (and tolerate it without any redness/flaking), but yes!

ETA: Oh, and a thin application is best.

@MsLipGloss: yeahhh...I need a good dermatologist here so I can get some. But I'm assuming I can't use it during pregnancy? What about during BFing?

  17. MsLipGloss

    GOLD / pineapple / 12662 posts

@Anagram: Right! Not during pg or while BFing (just to be safe!).

I'm almost 28 and I frequently have people card me or look at me sadly when they see me with my baby. It used to bother me now I just laugh.

@Reese: HA! Omg! That's hilarious. When I first was married I was often mistaken for a teenager, I actually had the ups guy at the door ask me if my parents were home

@LindsayInNYC: lol I find it hilarious that you said late twenties and Reese said late teens. Could you be more opposite?!?

  21. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

@Mrs. Pen: That's because I think everyone is my age and I'm late 20s!! I think I look young for my age though... So, how old are you?!

@Mrs. Pen: I was close! People always come to the door and ask to speak to the owners of the house...ermm ya that would be me and no I dont want any - thanks.

You have great skin and don't wear a lot of make up (it seems) which gives you that younger/fresh look

Hmm, I don't know. I just turned 30 and I definitely don't 'feel' 30 (whatever that means LOL) but I feel I look about my age.

  26. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

@Mrs. Pen: Whoops, way off!! I'm trying to find a good picture of me... I think it depends on how I'm dressed/made up. Here are some - http://lindsayinnyc.wordpress.com/tag/wedding/

I look younger. My voice is really kid-like, too, so that doesn't help so much. DH is only a year older than me, but I'm sure people think he went much younger with me, lol

Younger, for the most part. When I was wedding dress shopping, so many people asked me if I was looking for a prom dress. Nope.

I look younger. I got my fair share of looks when I was pregnant with DS. Most people think I'm around 16.

Definitely would say young, get carded every time, and I'm 27. I feel so bad if I buy pregnancy tests in store, worried that I look like a scared college student haha

  33. CupQuakeWalk

Everyone thinks my son is my baby brother and they gawk when I was pregnant. They also card me every time I even buy cough medicine, so i'd say younger:/
One lady asked me what grade I was in. That actually pissed me off. I can see, thinking I am 21 but not 17!!! I am 24.

I used to look younger, but infertility and our long adoption process took a toll on me and I think I look my age now. I'm 32.
