I found this interesting study that shows parental tendencies that resulted in more narcissistic children by "overvaluing" their own children. These types of studies are always so interesting to me as a teacher, as we get all kinds of students--some who undervalue themselves, some who are on point, and some who overvalue themselves. It's hard to say whether it's nurture or nature, but this study seems to point to nurture.

But I think that I see where she is ahead and behind. She does some things other babies don't do in terms of gross motor stuff so I think she is a little stronger than average for her age. But I think she's at best average and realistically probably behind on communication. It seems like lots of other babies her age understand more than she does. It sort of annoys me that all the grandparents are constantly saying "omg she is sooooo smart" because I feel like.... not really? I mean maybe she will be. But right now I don't think she's really done anything particularly smart lol. But regardless, DH and I are going to try to praise effort rather than innate talents, whatever those turn out to be.
because his oldest thinks she's "queen bee of the universe" to quote a pp.
