I had a few containers of tofu in the fridge that had "best if used before Aug 4" stamped on them.
I felt bad, but ended up tossing them.
I usually toss food/condiments if they've expired.

If it looks icky, fails the sniff test or I don't trust it then, yes.

Usually yes. But sometimes (if I am the one who is planning to eat it), I might let something go a little past the date.

Yes, I am very picky about food. Even before the expiration date.

Tofu I'll use maybe a week after it expires. Stuff like gochujang I'll use for up to 6 months after it has expired. But meat, milk, eggs and produce I toss.

it sort of depends what it is and who's going to eat it. I wouldn't give anything expired to M.

Yes. I don't care how good and fresh it still looks.... I'm tossing it.

I don't trust expiration dates at all. I've had ricotta cheese with pink bubbly mold in it weeks before it was set to expire and Cottage cheese 2 months past its date that was still perfectly fine! In my opinion, they can't predict an exact date something will go bad. You have to use your own senses and judgement!

I probably should, but I don't. If it still smells good and has a really long shelf life as it is, I still use it. *knock on wood* have never gotten sick! I'm using salad dressing that had a exp date of April this year right now.....

Always. If its expired or looks bad it goes right in the garbage. I try to do this once a week either before food shopping or the night before the trash goes out.

Usually. If it is something like tofu or meat, ill toss it. If it is something w/ a longer shelf life like ketchup or canned goods, ill eat it for a little past.
