We don't. We always buy a new comfortable every year or so but I see our past comforters taking up storage space. I wonder if I should try buying duvets instead of whole bedding sets.
I guess all I would need is to buy a nice blanket and just change the duvet now and then.

Yes. I love the feel of down blanket in a duvet cover. I have 2 or 3 duvet covers that I change around.

Yes. We have a pretty expensive down blanket that's a great investment and doesn't need to be replaced basically ever. We can't wash it so duvets are a must.

Yes!! I love down blankets (or alternative down) in duvets as well! I love Ikea bedding (it gets so soft as it gets older) and we have 3 or 4 Ikea duvets, and a few others as well.
Although when we were washing all the duvets at once after the holidays and they weren't dry by the time I wanted to go to bed, I put a flat sheet under the comforter and another flat sheet over the comforter (I've seen some hotels do that instead of use a duvet). It was such a nice change that I still have it that way!

Yep, I love it and so does DH. Never too hot or too cold. Ours is down alternative for DH's allergies though.

I love duvets for the exact reason that it's easier to switch things out. Plus, like @PurplePumps, I am obsessed with the comfort of down. We have a super warm one that we got on major sale at Macy's, but I think we might have to switch it out come summer and use a lighter one. Still totally worth it, though.

Yup, we have a down or down alternative comforter and duvet and I love the way it feels. We never switch them out though, just wash the cover sometimes. I think we should get a heavier comforter to put in it in the winter though-- currently we have a sheet, blanket, and duvet/comforter, and then the blankets get tangled and i get annoyed.

yep, and we've had the same duvet cover for several years now too (which we wash of course). i didn't even know that some people didn't use duvets!

Okay, I was wondering about this the other day.
How do you keep your blanket from moving around inside? I had a duvet when I was a kid and my blanket would always get wadded up inside it.
It seems like for every 10 bespreads there are, 9 of them are duvets so I need to figure this out lol

@MrsTiz: I had a problem with it staying as a kid and used to sew down the corners. I (surprisingly) haven't had any problems with our king sized one.

@MrsTiz: Depending on the manufacturer, the duvet will have ties inside at the corners to hold the comforter in place. Not all of them do though so that is something to look for when shopping. And many of the nice down comforters will have loops at the corner for those ties. And if it doesn' thave the loops just put the tie around the corner like a ponytail.

Yes! I love our duvets and down blankets! Even though I have allergies and generally use a allergen cover and/or down alternative pillows, I never have a problem with the down blankets! We have 3 duvet covers and I still use flat sheets - they get washed every week.
