DH usually gets home from work around 7:30pm. I will time dinner to be done cooking by 7:30. DH just texted me to tell me that he missed the commuter train and won't be home until 8:30pm.
I'm starving so I just had a snack to tide me over until he gets home. Would you wait to have dinner with your DH or would you have dinner first by yourself?

He would most likely tell me to go ahead and eat. I would probably eat enough to take the hunger edge off, and then eat a small dinner when he comes home,

I eat dinner by myself if he's coming home too late. And if he IS coming home late, he'll probably eat at the office anyway so there would be no point in waiting.

I used to wait for him, but now that Sawyer is eating, I feel like it is important for Sawyer to eat with at least one of us, so I eat dinner with Sawyer, and DH can eat leftovers when he gets home.

How late is too late? I think 8:30 is probably the latest I will wait.
I like having dinner with DH so I will tend to wait if he's late once in a while. But if was a regular thing, I would probably eat first.

If he doesn't get out of the office on time I'll usually sit down and eat with E so that by the time he gets home he she is clean and he can play with her before bed then eat his dinner. They don't get enough time together so I try and maximize the few hours that they have.

DH works late one night a week & finishes at 9. I don't wait for him because his lunch break is actually more like dinner. Other than that, unless he's SUPER late, I'll wait to eat with him.

I always wait. The only time I don't is if I work at 7 and need to eat before he gets home... very rare tho--he always tries to be here to eat with me! And he waits for me when I get home late. :))
