A lot of our family planning decisions were based around the idea of having our kids be close enough in age that they might be BFFs.
That's starting to happen a little bit now, and it's so sweet to see! We won't force anything, but it's nice to imagine that each of our kids will get a lifelong friend out of this all this work haha!

My sister is my bff but it was a long time coming, not til we both became adults, and moreso after I got married because then we were in similar places in life.
All my sibs now are really close and it's so great. Probably one of the best times of my life!

I hope so! My sister and I are bffs and we're almost 6 years apart! My LOs will be 21 months apart, so I hope they're super close and besties.

That definitely plays a role in the ideal spacing between kids. My sisters were all 9+ years older/younger than me, and I was never close to them. DH's sister is 5 years younger, and they constantly fought as kids. I want my kids to be close in age and be BFFs. That would be so sweet and adorable.

My brother and I are BFFs...It's one of the things my mom is always so grateful for because we know many pairs of siblings who just hate each other. I hope my kids will be BFFS!

Oh yes. I'd be pretty horrified if my kids weren't close (as adults, anyways).

Totally, it's part of the reason we had them so close together! Dd is very sweet with DS, even though he's much too young to really be a playmate yet. I'm so excited to see them as he gets a little older!

I hope so but it's unfortunate that there is no guarantee and they could very well hate each other, like some siblings that I know. Sad face.

haha, I guess it doesn't really matter to me. I'm really close to my brother, but he's not my BFF. Though I think gender plays a role in that. I have a female BFF, although I get along really well with my brother and we hang out a ton. But Hubs doesn't ever hang out with his sister and they have little in common, and I don't think either of them care that they aren't close.

my brother and I are 2.5 years apart and I used to fight him like crazy.. and like, mind-torture him as a kid, lol. Of course I love him now more than anything but he's not my BFF
but my BFF is having a boy and yes, I do hope her son and my DS are best friends

I am not BFF's with my siblings, but I am older by 6 and 8 years and they're boys. They're BFF's to each other.
My son's not going to have a sibling BFF, so, I hope he finds one somewhere else!

If we decide to have a 2nd, I don't know if they would be close enough in age (~3-4 years) to be BFFs as kids. My sisters and I didn't become super close until we were all over 25 so maybe they can be BFFs as adults.
I would love for LO and our dog to be great playmates though (once he is mobile, of course!)!

I was 26 months younger than my brother and we grew up fighting like crazy. That's all I can remember from our childhood together! We are siblings and he'll always be my brother, but we were never BFFs. It's funny because my mom totally thought we were. I'm like... uh, no, we hated each other!!
Wagon Sr. was 15 months older than his brother and they had a very tumultuous childhood growing up as well. They love each other now but they look back with a lot of regret, the both of them. Wagon Sr. deals with a lot of guilt about pushing his little brother away too much.
So I don't expect my kids to be BFFs. Especially since they will be opposite genders. I hope they will be close and always help and respect each other, and obviously I hope they play together well, but I expect them each to have BFFs outside the immediate family. If they do end up being BFFs, great!! Bonus.

I hope so! My sister is my BFF and we are 4 years apart. We never really fought growing up. I did fight a LOT with my younger sister who is 3 years younger, though, so I don't know that spacing played that big of a role. My BFF sister and I always wished we were closer in age so we could do more of the same things, but who knows if we wouldn't have been as good friends?
I do think gender plays a bigger role, which is why I would slightly rather 2 of the same gender than 1 of each. I'm so grateful and so close to all my siblings that I really hope our kids have that too. H is very close to his brothers as well.

My brother R (3years younger) and I are very close. I wouldn't say BFF's but he was the man of honor in our wedding. My Cousin (6 years younger) is really close with R and I, at family gatherings we are always together. My youngest brother L (8 years younger) and the rest of us are NOT close at all. He is more of a wild child, and we have a hard time relating to him.
So while I hope that our children are close, I dont expect them to be BFF's. I do however expect that their BFF's will become part of the family! Our BFF's growing up were always welcome at the house, and still will show up to family dinner when they are in town.

I'm super close with my sisters and that's what I would love for my kids. I don't expect them to be BFFs always ... but I would love for my son to look after my daughter. I can't wait for Sienna to be a little older so that Mavrick can interact with her like Charlie does with Olive.
I know he will be a good brother because he's so caring already... can't wait to see how it goes. but i have a feeling my daughter will make my son cry! (she's a tough one.. I can see it!)

I just hope they get along. My sisters and I fought like cats and dogs until we moved out for college, then we started to be friends. it took awhile and I hope it is not like that with my children.

Of course! When we were little my sister and I were bff's. We would always be all snuggly and huggy, and if we went out to dinner with my parents friends they'd never believe that we were always like that, they thought it was just an act. But she was a great big sister!

I just really hope they get along well, look out for each other, and have fun together. I will be thrilled if they are BFFs, though!
I'm the youngest of three - my sister is 2.5 years older than me, and my brother is 7 years older than me. I wouldn't say my sister and I are BFFs, but we do get along relatively well. My brother isn't close at all to either of us. He lives over a thousand miles away and we don't see him often. It makes me really sad. I've tried on several occasions to get to know him better and build a relationship...without much change. I do not want this to happen with our future little ones!

My brother and I are really close and get along very well (and did for most of our childhood). But I wouldn't say we are BFFs. I hope my children have a close and loving relationship with each other but that they also have close friends outside of their family as well.
