Do you find it even remotely believable? Lol, I guess I don't understand the appeal at all. It's so ridiculously fake and every time I catch a glimpse of it, I just pray that there aren't people out there who actually think it's even a little but real.

I grew up around the Amish and several Mennonite families and I don't find it even remotely believable. I could maybe believe a tiny bit of Breaking Amish because I went to school with a guy who left the Amish church and was disowned by them. His crime? A cell phone for his woodworking business. Not the wild stuff you see on Breaking Amish!

I have seen a few episodes and they speak a dialect of German that sounds like the Swiss German my husband speaks.
I dunno, what I wonder is if they accept $$$.

@HLK208: @looch: It's Pennsylvania Dutch. Something of a mix 1700s German (although a lot of Amish heritage goes back to Switzerland, so it makes sense if it sounds a little like Swiss German) mixed with English.

Swiss German has like 30 variations and none of it sounds like high German. I find language fascinating!
