I would prefer to be closer but not too close. Right now, it's a 5-6 hr flight. I would prefer a 5-6 hr drive.

I wish my family was closer and they are about to be! They just sold their house and are moving to our city in a few months. I'm thrilled. I grew up living across the street from my grandparents and seeing them multiple times per week. I want that for my kid too (although they won't be living across the street lol). I wish my MIL was local as well. My FIL is the right distance away I think.

We just moved and it's pretty perfect now. About 20 mins from in laws and 30-40 from my parents.

I wouldn't mind OH's parents living closer to us, but I'd rather not live closer to them because I don't like their neighborhood. I'm a comfortable distance from my mom and my sister is actually looking to move closer to me- which I'm excited about. I wish she could be a next door neighbor.

I wish my parents lived closer. They are a 5+ hour drive away, so every time they visit it is a big deal where they stay a few nights and we have to entertain them the whole time since they don't know the area. I wish they were 45 min or an hour away so they could come by for an afternoon or dinner without it needing to be a whole week-long event.

Closer to my sister (she's only 2.5 hours away but we are very close,) but further from my MIL. She's just fine but she lives down the street...

My mom is 20 minutes away, so she's close, but sometimes I wish that I lived right next door to her. Sometimes I'm a tiny bit tempted to move into the apartment over their garage.

My in laws live just over an hour away and I wish it was slightly less but we still see them often. My family is a 11 hour drive which is too far now they we have an LO but for my sanity the distance has been good in the past.

I wish we were further from someone besides my sister. Everyone is about 20-25 minutes away -- and its tough on the holidays. Both sides (well technically 3 sides, my parents are divorced) expect a lot of time, because its only a short drive to each place. Going to 2-3 houses in a day is exhausting for DH and I - I don't think we'll be able to do the rounds this year with LO in tow...

Closer! We are currently 7 hours away from my parents and 5 hours away from my in-laws. We are hoping to move closer within the next couple of years.

We all live in the same town and are about 15 min away from each other. Sometimes I wish my parents lived in our hood because they love to babysit

Closer. We are 45 minutes from my parents and 5 hours from my inlaws. If there were jobs in our college town, we'd move there because it's exactly halfway between both of them.

We live on a different continent to both sides and there are things I love about it, but it's hard at times. But, we will be living with my in laws from the end of November, and about an hour away from my folks. Not sure how I feel about that yet.

Closer to both! MIL is about 4 hours away and on her own and DH is her only so I worry about what happens as she ages. My parents are 2.5 hours away and will likely retire further away. I wish we saw them more (and everyone else near them where I grew up).

My mom is pretty close - 30 to 40 minutes depending on traffic - but I wouldn't mind even a little closer so she could pop by to hang out more easily.

I wish the ILs were closer as well for DH's sake more than mine. They are a two hour flight + a 2 hour car ride so it takes most of a day to get there so it's hard to do a short visit.
