My inlaws are a 6 hour plane ride plus 1 hour car ride away. We just recently moved and honestly, they were too far away to have made a difference when we lived in the same country.

Now, we live very close to my parents, and they help a ton.

5537.7 miles as the crow flies. About two days travel time. Not far enough...

Just over 3 hours for us, 4 hours for her (because she insists on driving a different longer route). I wish she was close enough that we could make a day trip to see her - right now it requires an overnight trip which is a giant PITA since both of us have dogs that can't be together so we have to board one of them. She hopes to sell her house next spring though and move about 90 min to 2 hours away.

My inlaws are a 2.5 hour plane ride away. But they are about a twenty minute drive from MY parents. I wish that my parents were closer.... Or that when we moved home we could be close to my parents without also being close to my in laws : /

About a 3.5-hour drive away. I think it's the perfect distance! Far enough that they can't just "pop in" but not so far that they can't hop in the car and be here relatively quickly if we need help or something.

My in-laws live 12.7 miles away, which is about a 25 minute car ride. I think it's a good distance. They are close enough to visit frequently but not so close that they can drop by at any given time.

MIL lives with us and FIL isn't in the picture. I'm happy with the latter and I wish MIL lived in her own place, but in due time.

My in laws live 5 minutes away. I am totally fine with that.

1.5 hours away. I wish they lived closer so we could see our nephew and them more often. We all get along great so I don't mind seeing them more often!

They live on the other side of the country and at times I wished they were closer to see the kids. at the same time, they are very hands off/disinterested grandparents so if they were nearby they wouldn't help.

They live in South America, so....pretty far. It would be nice if we could see them more often (DH hasn't been there for a year, I haven't been for 2+ years), but it is a long way to travel.

My ILs live four hours away by car. They act as if we live on the opposite side of the country. They are disinterested in us and our LO but fawn over my BIL's daughter because "they don't live here [i.e. where we live]", so that amount of distance is fine for me.

They live 45 minutes away. It's a nice distance because we can still drive up there whenever we like. We used to live WITH them for a few months, so 45 mins is good I do love them to pieces though.

2 miles & 1300 miles away so too close and too far.

My ILs are 40 or so minutes by car, and I think it's perfect. We meet halfway for brunch 2-3 times a month, and maybe spend a weekend day at their house. So they're close enough that we see them frequently, which is wonderful for E (plus they're great people and I love them) but not so much that they're always here.

5 hours by car. My parents live 45 minutes away, which is sometimes too close for comfort. It's too easy to pop in whenever they are in town. I think my ideal spacing would be 2 hours away.

5 minutes. Because we get along with them super well, I have no issues. If they didn't have boundaries or I hated them, I might feel totally different. They are a HUGE help to us when we're in a bind and just in general.

My mom is 900 miles away and the inlaws are 1500 miles away. Soon they will be moving and will "only" be 500 or so miles away.

I would love if they all lived closer.

ILs are 1,700 miles away, almost 30 hours of driving time, and I wish like crazy that they'd move here. For multiple reasons, but having convenient babysitting nearby would definitely be handy. My family is 14-20 hours away and I don't mind that. I'd rather have the ILs close by.
