Do you work with others who have children especially babies/young children?
I'm the only one in my group that has a young child (my boss has tween/teen kids), and sometimes I find it a little hard, especially if I have to decline certain work events or travel. If you don't work with others who have children, does it ever affect work relations?

No. So I basically think I will be extremely discriminated against when/if I get pregnant.

Yep, most everyone around me has kids, which is awesome because they all get it. I don't have to say anything more than "I have to leave to take my son to the doctor."

My new boss has a child about a year older than mine. But all the others I work with either have grown children or none!

Nope. All of my coworkers are currently single and childless. One of them is getting married this August.

Most have all grown children. One lady had an opps baby at 41, who is 3. That is the closest to R.

Only one co-worker has children and both of them are school age. It has made a difference definitely. My co-workers are all understanding and my boss, even though she's great, is not as understanding about certain things (like wanting me to take my child outside during a blizzard).

We're a very young team and in our team of about 15 alone we had 6 kids born within a 7m timeframe last year. I totally love that so many of my colleagues "get it".

There's one other woman with a LO close to mine in age, but she also has an 11 & 8 year old, so it's hard to relate! Other than that, no, there are no young parents/parents with young babies, and it's rough! I need people to commiserate with!
Luckily, they are all understanding and I never get flak for taking off.

Only a handful of my colleagues are married with children. The rest are single and childless.

Not so much in my department. But there were recently three pregnant ladies in the other department, and their supervisor has two kids under three.
Most of the women on my department have teenagers. It hasn't really affected me though. Policies about leaving early are the same for everyone, kids or not.

My boss has a new grandchild so I know he'd understand when I tell him I'm pregnant! His daughter that had the child also works at the company. Lots of people have younger children here too.

I am the only in my immediate group with small children (under 5). But my boss and program leads are all very understanding. Most of my coworkers actually have grandkids, which I feel like lends a very understanding mentality.

Thankfully there are several of us with small children. I always feel very supported around any issues that arise (child care, illness, etc).

Some do, some don't. I just realized none of my immediate co-workers have kids — but many others in the group do (including many of the senior managers), so they're all understanding when kid things come up.

Yes...so many of us have young kids. 3 of us had maternity leaves right after each other! While my boss doesn't have kids, she's incredibly understanding of us that do.

In my team, there is a woman who a 5 year old and a man with 4 and 6 year olds; and then several people have tweens and teens. Everyone had been super understanding - when I first started here so many people stressed how everyone understood I might need to take time to care for a sick baby, etc and not to worry about it. It was stressed so often it actually irritated me a little - like, yes I've got a little kid but I'm a professional too and I'll make it work, don't worry folks!!

My actual office is very small, just me and two others who have high-schoolers or young adult kids. The rest of my coworkers are spread out through the country, but most of the people at my level have young kids. One has elementary-schoolers and one has no kids, but all the rest currently have infants and/or toddlers. In fact, one guy has a baby a month older than my LO, another woman had a baby two months after me, and one other woman is currently pregnant! It's really nice because we're all pretty attuned to the issues working parents face and we're used to shuffling things around and covering for each other while people are on parental leave.

Yes, most them have young children & our boss is older with grandchildren now.
