One of my friends thinks I'm a weirdo for using cloth diapers and not letting my LO watch TV or videos yet!

No, most don't. The majority think I'm weird.
We're having a natural birth at a freestanding birth center and that's already raised a lot of eyebrows.
I don't know why people are surprised.. I am a doula after all. You think they would expect an alternative birth plan from me.

At first a lot of people questioned cloth diapers and said I wouldn't last. But now that LO is 17 months and still cloth diapered..... nobody says anything.
For the most part my friends don't say anything about my parenting decisions though. Most of my friends aren't parents so I think they know better.

I'm really strict about LO's routine (especially when it comes to naps and bedtime) so when I revolve my social life around LO's sleeping, my friends don't understand. I hate when they ask, "Why can't you just bring her with you? She can sleep in the spare bedroom." Uh, no, she can't. And then they all-knowingly say, "Well, you know if you have a second kid, you won't be able to cater to both their sleeping needs." I can't stand it when non-parents say things like this.

@Rubies: I've experienced the same with my friends. Some babies can nap on the go or in different places. Mine can't. Sorry!

@Rubies: I have a friend I hang out with who is a sahm and she totally gets the sleep thing and its such a relief for me that I never have to worry that she thinks I'm being overprotective regarding sleep because she is even more so!
Sometimes- but my general support system is my mom and sister who support my decisions, and my sister and I raise our sons similarly. I haven't told them I did CIO though!!
I got a lot of comments in the early months when we were cosleeping, and when I was pregnant about having him in a birth center. But now people just don't ask really. I don't mind!
Oh! My mom laughed at me when I was listing off all the Kids shows I don't like and won't introduce to my son hahaha! I did say I'm sure it's only a matter of time before he finds them anyway but while I can I'll keep him away.

We were one of the first to have a baby so I know people thought we were crazy and neurotic for being so strict about lo's sleep schedule (although they never said anything to us). Now that their LOs are older and not sleepy newborns, I know they now understand. So much so that they ask me for sleep and schedule advice!

So far our friends have been supportive, but some family members have not. FIL hasn't come to see the baby yet and he's only an hour away. It's all because we won't let him smoke while he is here. Plus we didn't want hospital visitors for 24 hours after birth and we apparently ruined his Christmas plans....plans that were unknown to us!
