I asked my 2.5 year old daughter for a hug last night and she stared at me really intensely and said she couldn't give me one because "we don't have much time left together." It really creeped me out the way she said it! Maybe she meant because it was almost bedtime, but it definitely seemed like she knew I was going to die soon.

Eeek, little kids are so creepy!!! These are all giving me chills up my spine!
Sometimes when I am putting LO to sleep, she will tell me to “tell that lady to go away” and when I’m like “What lady?” she’ll say “over there, tell her to go away.” And point out into our empty bedroom. Freaks me the eff out.

I'm the oldest child and was the only for a number of years. Apparently I told my mom very matter of factly, "if I died, you wouldn't be a mom anymore"
I still can't believe I said that. And I told my grandparents I would come to visit when I was 16 if they were still alive. I was really little then too. I hate to think what creepy things my kid will say to me!

So I called my dad the other day and had him on speaker phone. LO thought we were facetiming and ran out of the room to get some toys to show him. He ran back, but my dad had hung up. I told him we could make a video to send to Papa instead.
I start filming and LO goes, "No. Papa...died!"
I was so shocked I stopped filming. I realize later he meant that the phone had died, which is what he thougt had happened!

My #1 says creepy things all the time. Last night' sedition included "I love you so much mama that I'm going to marry you. And then when you die I'm still going to keep you in my house and love you." Had to have a talk about cemeteries... Which led to talk of reincarnation.
You may remember her detailed stories of her past life? She added to it last night saying that she died in San Diego when she was very very old... With a detailed description of where she was buried. She also said that she and I only have one life left.

My LO sees owls in our bedroom. He points at a spot that's empty, always says goodnight to them, then asks "where did the owl go?" a little later.

These are my favorite threads!!! My LO isn't verbal yet, but I absolutely LOVE reading about this stuff. I love/hate being scared.
On a hippie woo-woo level, I do believe kids are more insightful (spiritually) than we think ... When my baby was really little (like 2 weeks), I was like, "Who were you?", and she turned and made creepy eye contact with me. I was like, "NEVER MIND!" ...
@Mrs. Jacks: Yeah, that's majorly creepy, but also really interesting. Do you believe it?? (on whatever level one can believe it?)

@littlejoy: I'm not one to believe that sort of thing, BUT... She had all the factual details correct without having a historical basis for knowing it. My kid was describing the 1906 earthquake when she was an early three year old and that was pretty freaky.

When my sister was nearly 3, she had an imaginary friend named "Michael" ... Like your LO, you couldn't prompt her to talk about it, but she would gladly tell you about him from time to time. He was an older man, which my parents thought was strange, so they would try to decipher stories to be certain nothing else was going on.
Two weeks before 9/11, she woke up screaming (from what we thought was a night terror). Michael had been on a plane that crashed into a building in NYC. -- Again, like your LO, a lot of detail that my parents didn't prompt her with. Obviously, when 9/11 happened, we were all really creeped/emotional. At one point, she saw the TV, and said, "There's Michael's plane!" ... She's now 16, and doesn't like talking about it. She said she remembers it, but it makes her feel overwhelmed. She said she can remember what he looks like.

I remember when I was little I always had the idea that I lived another life before I was born and would have another one after this one. I always remember thinking I would miss my mom if I had to live with a new family (in a new life) and then wondered about my mom in my past life and was sad for her. I think as I got older I chalked it up to imagination but that was always just my logical train of thought, that this wasn't my only life.@littlejoy: Whoa. Just whoa. That's some crazy stuff.

@artsyfartsy: I think because her verbal abilities developed so early and at a level of complexity that could convey complicated concepts, that she could tell me about this stuff while she "still remembered it" (or imagine it).
She's so internally consistent it is scary. Like last night when she was talking about it, she said "you know that I don't remember your story, right? Only mine."
