I get a lot of unsolicited advice about everything from my parents/in laws and I ignore a lot of it!

My parents give good advice, my in-laws give "advice" I don't care to hear.

They give us advice when we ask for it. Neither of our parents are the type to offer unsolicited advice.

My mom gives good advice but for the most part, MIL doesnt give advice. She is really proud of her son and knows that he is very happy and successful, so I don't think she feels like she needs to give advice. She also realizes that I want her son to be happy and that makes her happy.

We actually don't get a lot of advice. My MIL is a nurse so when she does give us advice it's not ridiculous old school stuff

My in-laws give a lot of unsolicited advice. Sometimes it comes out of nowhere and we just have to wait until they're done talking! To be fair, though, a lot of the stuff they say is good advice--just kind of random. My parents only give advice if asked (which I really appreciate!).

I notice it more from my MIL. Every time we see her she has some opinion about what we should be doing. From watching out for his head to we shouldn't put DS in daycare or have a nanny watch him.

my mom does give advice, but usually i'm asking for it, and it's helpful. DHs parents both will say things before advice like: "i'm not going to tell you what to do, but...." or "i don't want to give my opinion, but......" so weird.
we don't have kids yet though, so who knows what will happen then.

I get some but not often though thank goodness. The only thing I currently hear is about starting rice cereal.

They only did for the first couple of months after my son arrived. I guess I looked like a deer in the headlights and they thought they were helping. But I really just didn't want to hear it, since all it did was stress me out. It felt more like judgement than advice at the time.
