Yes. It's funny because we miss them when we don't see them and when we finally do it's like "ahhhh let's get this visit over with already!!!"

My mom, no. My dad, sometimes because he just works the entire time he visits and that's lame.

My in laws, 2 out of the 4 basically 95% of the time. 2 out of the 4 5% of the time. My FIL and his wife really annoy me - they leave teabags out, reheat coffee in the microwave and explode it everywhere, inappropriate personal space stuff, refuse to take shoes off even though we are a no shoe house, obnoxious political and religious discussions knowing full well what the outcome will be, etc... Makes me batty!

my parents do little things that are annoying (like my dad leaves the toilet seat up--whyyyy? or if he puts lo to bed--which is amazing, don't get me wrong--he forgets her milk cup in her room and so it gets left out overnight) but generally they're so helpful, and respectful of our parenting, that it way outweighs the negative.

mil drives me crazy though! very passive aggressive, and somehow both wants to be helpful yet expects us to wait on her. She doesn't know how to do child-centered activities, really, like she always wants to take lo to the grocery store but won't take her to the park. But then she'll go to the grocery store and buy things she wants for herself, like fruit, but won't ask us what we need--even obvious things that lo needs like milk.

Yes, but it is mostly because my mom makes big messes when she plays with the kids, doing art projects, baking, getting out all the toys. But she entertains them and the kids have a blast. The clean-up I have to afterwards is annoying, but I try to let it go. I wish they could go to her house more where they could be as messy as they like but it would mean that I have to drive them 2 hours, and stay at least one night, which is also hard for me.

We like when our parents come, and they tend to come for 1-2 weeks at a time (and we live in a two bedroom condo). But little things are mildly annoying. My mom always cooked everything when I was growing up, but in her retirement has basically stopped. So when she visits she's amazing with the kids but basically will ask me every night when I get home from work, "So, what's for dinner?" and I just have the added stress of planning meals for one more person. But she's super active and will take the kids out to parks or on walks, or wherever. She'll also go do touristy things alone, leaving us to do our own thing. She doesn't have to be entertained.

Dhs parents are the exact opposite. They come and camp out--they do not leave the house at all, except to go to the grocery store basically. But MIL will cook every single meal, so I can't complain too much.

Neither of our parents leave messes. My mom will get in there and randomly organize stuff, like my pantry (I don't mind, it's usually a mess). Dh's mom will cook all day and clean as she goes.

My in-laws are helpful and wonderful. It's MY parents that make us crazy! They insist on staying at a hotel instead of with us, which seems nice but comes off as kind of insulting. And my dad is addicted to his iPhone - I once had to send him outside when he was watching videos on Facebook during DD's bedtime story time. He can't hear but won't get hearing aids so while my mom and I were reading stories to my 2 year old, my dad's phone was blaring some stupid video his local weatherman posted on Facebook!

My mom is literally at my house almost every day to watch the kids, she's the greatest. While there are some tiny things she does to get on my nerves every once in awhile, it's nothing over-arching or repetitive. It's just the nature of having someone else in my space. My dad is annoying, only in the fact that he ignores us because he's so excited to see the boys....nothing major again.

On the other hand, 95% of what my ILs do annoy me (MIL in particular). The reasons why are too long to even describe.

Both my parents and in-law's live nearby, and they still drive me crazy when they visit for an hour. The mothers are always criticizing every detail, and they have this look of disapproval the whole time they are here. My FIL is the only one who plays and interacts with the kids.
