My Dad recently got my Mom an iPhone. She promptly went over her data minutes. Whomp whomp. They quickly upped the plan so that wouldn't happen again. I don't think Dad realized how much an iPhone actually costs on a month to month basis when he got it. 
My MIL has a cell phone but it's just a regular old flip phone. She hardly ever uses it. It's one of the pay as you go phones.

Yepp! Both my mom and dad have droids, MIL has sn iPhone. They all love them and use them all the time!

My parents both have blackberries, and my dad has an iPhone too for work.
MIL doesn't have a cell phone! FIL has the old school flip motorola razor! lol!

Nope! My parents barely know how to use their cell phones. They have really old ones and the oldest plan known to man - 50 minutes and only like $12/month or something. They only use their cells for emergencies and usually keep them off.

Both sets of parents have basic flip phones! None of them would know what to do with a smart phone... good for us because we pay for the IL's phones. I wouldn't want to add 2 more data plans to our package

My mom has a blackberry and a droid, my step dad, father-in-law, and dad all have droids, and my mother-in-law has an iphone. We are a little more "in touch" than I necessarily want at every moment.

yup! my dad has had one for a while and my mom got one last year. my mom and her friends are like middle school girls on their smartphones...they text with crazy silly emoticons and send each other youtube videos and email forwards. it's hilarious! oh, and they have middle school email handles, too...like kdramalover...ha!

My parents have a trac phone (pay as you go) that they share! I don't think it's even a flip phone unless they got a new one!

both of my parents have iphones. FIL has a BB but isn't good with it, and MIL has a POS phone that doesn't text
