Any time there is news of snow (even just a few inches), I'll inevitably get an email from my dad, asking if we are ok, instructing us to keep warm, be careful, etc. He always words it to make it seem like the snow is MY fault... haha. And then tries to solve the problem for us. The last big storm he actually emailed with instructions on HOW TO USE A FLASHLIGHT in the event of a blackout:

"Make sure to have small/portable burner and good flash light. One method using flash light efficiently is to point the flash light to the ceiling. That will brighten up entire room with reflected light rather than on small area pointed…"

Also, I love that they have access to my instagram because they can easily see pictures of the kids regularly, so it's a win/win. But every time I post about one (or all!) of us being sick, I'll get an email minutes later. It's nice that he gets concerned about us, but they live a 6 hour drive away so it's not like they can come and help... so not only do I have to deal with the illness, I also have to respond to my dad's emails demanding to know "what happened???" ...uhh, viruses are airborne and made their way into our bodies... It's kind of a common thing that happens to people several times a year. And again, he always makes it seem like it's my fault that this awful thing happened.

The funny thing is, my parents get sick with cold/flu all the time, they are obviously experienced with childhood illnesses, AND they lived in my area for 30 years so it's not like they are intimidated by snow because they don't know how to deal with it... They (and I!) know how to deal with snow!! I used to shovel while my dad used the snowblower because my brother had asthma...!! But now if he reads a weather report that my area will get a couple of inches of snow, and he sends off a panicked email.

Ok sorry. Rant over. Please tell me I'm not alone! and to just suck it up and deal because really, it's all because he just cares about us.
