my mom didn't get the sleep thing, but once she saw that i could put the kids down for naps in a couple of minutes and leave them in their cribs awake, she was a believer!
i think our kids are more spoiled with our attention rather than things. we spend so much more time with them (focused on them) than our parents ever did!

@autumnlove: Lol @ letting your toddler sleep too much! Do you ever wonder what happens to your parents . . . like, at what point did they start believing stuff like that and forget what being a parent to young children is really like? Gah, I hope I am not doomed to repeat that history!!!

@MsLipGloss: I am on edge when they visit...they want to wake her up from naps and they only want her to sleep 8 hours at night!

Yes! My parents say it frequently because 1) I haven't done any cry it out sleep training 2) He sleeps in our bed most of the night 3) I don't thrust him into the arms of every family member/actually a stranger to my baby the moment they meet
Gah, usually they are the opposite of judgmental. Becoming grandparents really flipped a switch in them!

@autumnlove: My dad is like that too. He keeps saying our 9 month old's bedtime should be 8 or 9 pm (he's sleepy between 6-7pm). When we just visited with them, they always seemed disappointed when it was nap/bed time. Don't they realize they're just going to get a cranky baby?!

No, my mom thinks I'm too strict! She gets mad at me when I use a stern tone with LO or when she gets a time out. LOL!
