We need a new TV and I was wondering if the Smart TV's are worth it? I assume you wont need a roku or any additional equipment to stream other media?

We have a Samsung and it worked great for a while, but eventually the internet connection stopped working well and the TV would shut itself off every 6 mins or so. We had to disconnect the internet Now we have ChromeCast as well as a computer hooked up to it.

We have a Smart TV and Chromecast - you only need one or the other.
We mostly use out Smart TV for playing Pandora - which is amaaazing. But, we also have our computer hooked up to our TV, so we don't utilize the Smart TV features very often.
It's a pretty cool thing to have though!! I would pay a little extra for it

We have the Vizio smart tv and we love it. We use it mainly for lO to watch you tube videos of elmo and Choo Choo Soul. That alone has totally been worth it.
We occasionally use it to watch Amazon Instant prime and Netflix.

It depends on the price. I wouldn't pay too much more for the option since a roku is <$100. My TV happened to have it, so it's convenient when I actually want to watch netflix, which is rare. Plus you can move your roku around to different TVs if you ever wanted to.

We are planning to get a smart tv eventually; probably when we move. But in the meantime I think we're going to get a Chromecast, which we can then use on our other dumb tvs.

Yes! I've had a smart tv for about three years now. It is awesome and doesnt have the restrictions that apple tv has. Some of them even cameras i think and you can skype with them. We can also connect our phones and play music through the speaker. I loveee ours!!

We do! We don't use it that much but it's convenient to stream web content! We don't attach any other device to it except for an old Apple TV we have.
