We have one and love it. DD has used it since about 18 mo and she is 4 now and still uses it. I am planning to get one for DS too.

I have one! I didn't use it that much until DS turned 2 but now we use it all the time!

Pros:
-You can adjust the seat/foot rest so that it fits them perfectly. The adjustable foot part is nice because it's good for them to rest their feet on something, instead of just letting their feet dangle (according to our ped)
-They can eat on the dining table, with the rest of the family
-They can climb up by themselves, which is nice when you're holding a baby!
-Super easy to clean
-It tucks in nicely under the dining table so it doesn't take up a lot of space
- Adults can sit on it too (kind of uncomfortable though).

Cons:
- Expensive
- Could be dangerous if your LO is feisty. My son propped his feet up against the edge of the dining table and pushed back and almost tiled backwards. They include a small plastic piece for you to install so that you can avoid the backwards tilt.
- Doesn't come with a tray table but you can buy one separately for $100. The chair is meant to be used at the dining table but sometimes it would've been nice to have a tray.

Ummm..I can't think of any other pros/cons. I would buy it if I had to (got it as a gift)! Plus there's a huge resale value on these if you plan on selling it in the future.

@luckypenny: I know! It always made me so nervous. My son used to rock it all the time and then found out it would be more fun to put his foot up against the dining table and PUSH back. ARG! We had to rearrange our dining room so that the back of his chair is now against the wall.

@Sammyfab: Is yours on hardwood/tile? Ours is on a rug, which is why I think it tips back, instead of sliding back. We would get rid of the rug but the hardwood underneath it is damaged so we have to hide it with a rug.

It's one of my favorite pieces of baby gear. We don't have any of the accessories, we've had DD sit at the table w us since she was 6mo.

We have it and love it! DD is still only 9 months, but it has worked great so far. I guess I'm in the minority for not wanting a tray. I like that DD can eat at the table with us. We do have a splat mat on the ground for all of the dropped food.

@shopaholic: we started using it around 6 mos when the kids were ready to eat solids.... They have to be able to keep their head up.

We have one and love it, it's expensive but will last for your grand kids. Not exaggerating, my mum has a Tripp trapp from when I was little that we now use for DS when visiting.

We have one and love it. We've been using it since LO was 6 months old. The only thing is, we had to move the foot rest down because LO started standing on it and climbing out of the chair.

@shopaholic: The in-laws got DD one to use at their place. She started sitting in it at 5 months. She wasn't eating solids yet, but would just sit there and watch us eat at the table while she gnawed at her toys. I think anytime your LO can sit up easily is fine. Btw, theirs don't have any cushions and she seems perfectly comfy in it.

We have one and love it, LO have been using it since he was a newborn, we have the newborn set. At 5 months he just moved to the baby set. It's easy to clean and comfortable without the cushions.

We got the playtray for it instead of the Stokke tray because it was more stable.

Pic of my DD's TT. She's still using at 4 yr for eating, craft time, etc and doesn't use dining table chairs since she would still need a booster. When she's totally big enough to sit in our dining chairs, I'll move it to her room and use it at her desk for as long as she's in the house..
ETA: I probably need to adjust the seat one more level down for her!

@Andrea: yup, plus i have the fisher price ones, which i use a lot... ah well! my husband wants to start tallying all the money we spend so the kids could pay us back haha.

@banana: great list - I hadn't even thought of the ability to push back... though couldn't they technically do that with almost any booster type chair?

I don't have one but my nanny family did and I thought it was great! Especially once the kiddos could climb up/down it themselves. They never rocked the chair back, but the girl was very cautious and calm by nature so that was why... If you don't buckle them in, it's easy for them to fall so that could be an issue... I know my nanny family didn't like buckling them in because they didn't want them to feel constrained or like it was "punishment".. so the toddler fell a few times before he got the hang of it.

I personally wouldn't use it for a baby (maybe with the tray), but your DD is 2 so I think it'd be a great option. That is sooo generous of your mom! So sweet.
