I’m kind of surprised by how many people don’t celebrate it for religious reasons; I've never known anyone who didn't celebrate for religous reasons before HB. I guess I’ve always looked at the Halloween celebration of today as more of a secular holiday; then again I think Christmas has also become a rather secular holiday. I love seeing all the little kids dressed up in the costumes; some are really original!
We don’t go all-out for any holiday, but I do love horror movies (year ‘round though) and look forward to taking LO trick-or-treating. I HATE all the sexy costumes; especially for little girls, but I’ve got no issue with the rest of it.

Let me follow up my post by saying that I've actually seen my mother being cremated, so when I see skulls and the like it brings back memories of actual dead people for me.

I loved Halloween as a kid, so I definitely plan to celebrate it with my future LO. DH never celebrated growing up, so I always think he missed out

I knew families growing up that did not celebrate Halloween, due to religious reasons. Sometimes one of the churches in our town would put on a "Harvest Festival" on Halloween night as an alternative for those families (no costumes, focused on harvesting/pumpkins/apples/fall instead of horror, a big party/potluck instead of candy, etc...), but most of the time, those families just went out so they could avoid the Trick-or-Treating crowd (going bowling or to the movies, usually).

I love Halloween, and am hoping we get trick or treaters this year as last year we lived in an apartment and only got one
I'm going to a costume party next weekend and my kids will absolutely go trick or treating.

I grew up going to Church " Hallelujah" parties or " Fall Festivals" so I still dressed up but didn't do the door to door stuff or really get into the dark stuff of "Halloween"

I personally love Halloween! I guess it's because I don't think about the religious/occult aspects, and I just see it as a fun day for kids to dress up and meet their neighbors. My parents don't really like it (because of religious reasons) and DH isn't a big fan either.

We don't celebrate Halloween. I don't want to get into all the reasons, but basically I'm not comfortable with the history and roots of the holiday.
However, we've decided that we will throw (non-scary, just fun fall-themed) costume parties for our kids so they still get a chance to dress up in fun costumes and get special treats.
I don't believe in taking things away from children without providing a healthy replacement, and this is our way of giving them something special of their own so they don't feel like they are missing out.
We'll probably do it in September.

We always get pumpkins and get lo a costume to go trick or treating but we don't let her dress up in the more "traditional" costumes like witch, ghost or anything like that.
