We are living with my parents right now and my dad is obsessed with saving water these days. He made a comment about how we should shower with DD instead of doing baths. I've done it a few times after being int he pool with her, but it seems like it'd be a PITA to do regularly.
Anyone regularly do showers instead of baths?

I do and have been since August since the place we're currently living in doesn't have a bath. Lo is 20 months and she sits on the floor in the shower and washes herself/plays.

Yes, and I have since she was 2 weeks old! I find it much easier, and she seems to like it more!

We do both with our 2-year-old. My husband gives her baths and I usually shower with her. I usually wash myself her while she stands and plays with the water. I let her have a washcloth and she tries to clean her body. Then I take over, wash her up, and pick her up to rinse us off. She loves it.

Yes I do it every day, otherwise I'd never get a shower! 
When she was little I used to put the bumbo in the shower and she'd play while I showered. Now she just sits in there with me and plays.
After I'm done, I just kneel down and wash her too.

We only EVER do a bath for playtime. He showers everyday with me, alone ( we watch him), or with his dad. He took a bath this week just for fun because it was too chilly to go outside or use the pool.

@lovelyplum - she's 2. I guess I'd be nervous about her slipping. And we have a bathtub shower so there's not a lot of room. Maybe I'll have to start trying it one morning when I shower. It would be nice to have one less thing to do at night!

@Espion - yes, DD loves the bath too. Its usually a pretty "fun" part of the evening. Until we wash her hair, that is!

@BeachMama: fair! Maybe you could bring in some toys, like bath crayons or shapes that stick to the walls? That way, she could sit and play for a bit while you wash. And time saving is good!

I wish she could but I take way too hot of showers. Also, we tried it once and she freaked out! It was hilarious and sad. She hates getting her head wet

We have showered with him since he was born. He is 3 years old now and still showers with us. We started by just laying him on a towel (it was a large shower no tub). Then he got a bumbo, then a shower seat, then a bucket. Yup a plastic bucket that we fill with water (extended shower head) and he plays in that and with the shower head.
In the new house we have a tub/shower combo and he just hangs out under the water.

@luckypenny: I tried it once too and DS had a similar response. He hated it and screamed through the entire thing. I've been too nervous to ever try again!

I'm a morning shower person and usually do it before she gets up so I have time do shower, do hair, makeup and get dressed.

I get in the shower, wash up, then DH hands LO to me, I wash her, and hand her back. She has no idea baths are for getting clean.

Yup, my almost 2 year old has been showering with me or DH since about 14 months - she loves it! We tend to wash her in the shower and play in the tub. You could stick a bath mat in the shower if you're worried about slipping but LO usually just crouches and plays on the floor so I am not usually too worried:)

We take family showers several times a week. Otherwise, I bathe with her, or she has one, solo. It's a little harder to shower with her on my own - getting the both of us clean and out and into towels is a slight challenge. I imagine it will get much easier when she's older, and can stand and occupy herself, safely.

@Corduroy: We do the same - one parent gets in, turns on the water to a cooler/safe temp, takes LO and gives her a wash (sometimes the other parent helps out with the scrubbing), and then we hand her off so the one can continue with a nice, hot shower and the other gets to dry off and dress up LO. She seems to love it, and it's a really fast process now. We've done this since she was about two weeks old.

Another vote for showers here! The only bathtub we has is inflatable and we use it sometimes for the kids but I never feel like they get clean in there anyway! I'm pretty sure *someone* always pees in there. The best shower accessory we have is a plastic cup. It's good for hours of shower entertainment.

Showers but only when my husband is around to help get her out so I can stay in and finish washing myself.
Now that she's almost 3 we have tried a few times to let her shower alone and we sit outside the tub and help her. It's worked ok without us getting super wet.

I do! I just give him toys while I do my thing, then I wash him at the end. He loves it!

Yes. Initially I had a baby bath that fit in the tub that I partially filled and I put LO in there with a few toys while I showered. He's 3 now and he showers on his own. I watch from outside the tub and wash his hair. These tubs are sold at every Target-type store I've ever been in. You could outfit it with nonslip tub decals if you're worried about slipping.

Yes, and I actually prefer it. We use our guest bath which is a bath/shower combo with a removable shower head. It's so much quicker and easier. I wet her down (she stands on the mat), while I wash her hair I give her the scrubby and she does a fair job of washing. I then rinse her hair, add conditioner and she sits and plays at the far end while I do my shower. I rinse out her conditioner. Make sure we are both fully rinsed and we are done.
Lately, she's been sleeping in the morning so I can't do this. But last night I put her in by herself and got it done quickly. The removeable shower head is key for us.

I wish we could do this! I think if we had a bigger shower, he would like it more. There really isn't a place for him to escape the water right now, so I think that's why he doesn't like it!

We do when we are in a hurry, it's maybe a once every 2 week kind of thing? Usually on the weekend, she jumps in with me and then DH takes her and gets her dried off/dressed so I can finish. She loves it.

We remodeled our bathroom while I was pregnant and didn't put in a tub, just a shower. C tolerates the shower but doesn't love it. There was a period of time before she could reliably stand in the shower that I really regretted not having a tub because she was so heavy. The only other thing I don't love about it is that I shower in the morning and she's not always awake by then so sometimes she doesn't get a shower that day. Otherwise, I really like having the one on one time and saving a little bit of time is good, too! We do the same as others. I get in, shower, then DH hands her to me, and I hand her back out when she's done. Works for us!

Oh man, I wish. Our shower is a little too small - she'd get sprayed in the face too much. Plus I take REALLY hot showers. AND, she's a fraidy butt about stuff like that.

@indi: I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who does this with a bitty. It is much faster and easier than a bath, but I'm convinced that she likes it more because she is not cold!

@deerylou: if I'm by myself, usually she ends up getting washed, and I will just rinse. I agree, it is a bit harder to juggle that way. But i I think you're right-older is probably easier. LO is only 9 weeks old,so I just take another one when DH gets home
