My entire pregnancy people have commented about how "tiny" or "small" my bump is, so I am wondering if this means I will likely have a baby on the smaller side. Do you think there's a correlation? Did you have a big bump and a big baby or a small bump and a small baby? Or is there a chance I am going to have a Goliath baby even with a small bump??
I guess by big baby I mean over 8-8 1/2 lbs?

Ehh...I don't think my bump was huge (I got a lot of comments that people couldn't believe I Was as far along as I was) and LO was very average sized (7lbs11oz). I think it depends more how you carry/where you carry.

Good question!
I was a whale. Everyone (friends/family) thought my baby would be 10lbs.
My peanut was 7lbs 8oz.
So... I was just a fat whale with a tiny baby

I didn't have a huge bump - small to average - LO was average at 7 lbs 4 oz.

I had a huge bump and he was 7.7. He was just hanging off of me! I think its more how you carry.

I keep getting comments about being huge. Whatever. I have a short torso, so there's nowhere to go but out. Both my husband and I were small-average, I was a week late and weighed 7.5 pounds, he was early and weighed 6.4 pounds.

My coworker's wife gained 21 lbs and had a 10 lb 4 oz baby!
I thought my bump with my first was pretty average and she was 8 lbs and 1 ounce. I didn't gain a lot of weight with my second and she was only 2 ounces lighter...7 lbs and 14 ounces at 39 weeks.

I had a small bump. I always measured small and no one EVER believed I was as far along as I was. My OB said my baby would be no bigger than 6.5lbs.
He was exactly 7.8lb
In her defense, I was 3 days late too. Still...for as small as my bump was, I expected a baby in the 6's.

I was as huge as a house, I got almost daily comments from family and coworkers (and strangers!) about how large I was and how I would never make it to my due date because I was so big/how I must be secretly having twins and LO was 8lbs exactly! She never measured big or small, just right on schedule.
ETA: OB said part of the reason I carried large was because I have very long legs and a very short torso, so there wasn't much space but OUT to go! haha not sure if this is true or not

With me my mom was so small they did an ultrasound because they were worried I wasn't growing. I was born right around my due date at 8 lbs, 6 oz.

Everyone commented how huge I was and DS was 8lbs 2.9oz, 21.5".
I'm also 5'3" & normally around 118lbs

I have a long torso and I measured small.
I know @beebug: has a longish torso and she carried small but had a big baby (don't remember weight but bigger than mine).

I was same as @TurtleDoves:. I had a small bump, measured small and no one ever believed how far along I was. Doc was also surprised by LO's birth weight (which I think was affected by fluids given) of 7lbs 11oz. I delivered exactly 14 days early.
I attribute it to being a little taller than average (5'6") and having a long torso. It's the one and only time in life where having short legs was good! LOL

Sometimes they're crammed in! I measured several weeks small with a long torso but my baby was average at 7 lbs 10 oz and 18.75" long (40 weeks).

@lawbee11: no! I was told the whole time I was measuring "ahead" and "way ahead" and I would birth a monster. I had a perfectly average 7lb 15oz babe.
I had a big bump due to extra fluid, not extra baby

I looked like I had a small bump, but baby was all up in my rib cage and came out at 9lb14oz. Everyone was surprised though. My midwife said "where did that come from??".

I carried small (in my stomach...my thighs carried XLARGE) but H was a beanie-weanie at 6lbs9oz and was 6/3oz when we left hospital so she was a little runt:)
ETA: And you know we're similar height/prepreg weight!

I have a very short torso but also carried small (consistently measuring 2-3 weeks behind) and I had a perfectly average sized baby at 7 lbs 6 oz. My midwife said it also depends on how tight your abdominal muscles are - mine just refused to stretch that much so my bump never got very big....I'm sure it will be a very different story with this next one!

I was hugeeeee. Everyone thought I would have a 9 lb baby. He was 6 14. I had tons of fluid and water weight.

@lawbee11: I was alway told and/or lead to believe that bump size is NOT an indicator of baby size.
I carried rather small. DS was 9 days late and 7 lbs 7oz. OB/midwife couldn't believe he was that big. They estimates at 39 weeks, just barely 6 lbs.
I think I am carrying small again and baby measured 57th %tile at last u/s.

@PrincessBaby: Ditto on the XL thighs (I keep telling myself that it's water weight/swelling and not the McFlurrys I've been eating)!
I do have shorter legs and a longer torso, so maybe she's just stretched out in there!

I am short and everyone kept telling me how big my belly was and how I was going to have a big baby. She was 7lb 5. A friend didn't pop until after 30 weeks and have a 10lb baby.

i felt huge with DS. My OB said i was a measuring big "not a lot, but big". he guessed i was going to have an at least 8 1/2 - 9 lb baby. when the doc got in there(csection) one of his first words were "he's not as big as i thought! lets put him back in" he was 7lb, 12oz 20.5 inches, so average(ish?) i also had him at 40w 6d

I had a smallish bump and gained 20 lbs but was measuring on target. Everyone said i was small but Baby was 8 lbs 8 oz. I think everyone carries so differently

@PrincessBaby: My LO is in the 50th for height/head, but she is still in the 35th for weight (she was 17.9 at the 9.5 month checkup).
