Sometimes.
This is funny, I just diagnosed my co-worker with misophonia based on him talking about how he has to leave the room sometimes when people are eating:
"Misophonia, literally “hatred of sound”, is a form of decreased sound tolerance. It is believed to be a neurological disorder characterized by negative experiences resulting only from specific sounds, whether loud or soft." --from Wikipedia

Fiingernails on a chalkboard - that is what the sound of eating is to me. I need some kind of background noise on when people are eating as the sound of it drives me insane! I can handle crunchy sounds but the chewing noise (especially with mouth slightly open) absolutely kills me. Fortunately, DH is a pretty quiet eater but there still are moments!

Yes! It's been especially bad lately. I don't like people eating crunchy food around me if I'm not eating some too and I hate it when people don't chew with their mouths closed.

One thing I CANNOT STAND....is the sound of people scratching themselves! Especially dry skin..ewww it is just terrible!

Yesss! I have a super high sense of hearing when people are eating. Chewing gum, even with closed lips disgusts me. Any food at all, or when people slurp when they drink. It drives me absolutely insane!

YES! DH, and my best friends 10 year old. Drives me nuts.
(but, oddly, only since getting pregnant/giving birth).

I HATE hearing other people chew. If we have corn on the cob I just about have a stroke and have to leave the room.
I hate loud breathers too:)

I HATE hearing people eat. I know I make DH feel bad sometimes. I think hearing people eat wings is one of the worst sounds in the world and it drives me insane when people lick/suck on their fingers.
nectarine / 2127 posts
Yes. My dad is the worst. He chews with his mouth open, chomps, smacks, and slurps. It's disgusting and he won't listen to anyone who tells him that it's awful manners!

Ight, that sound totally makes me cringe!!! My mom always taught me to chew with my mouth closed, but somehow SHE is SUCH a noisy chewer herself, hahaha!

@mandb36: Ugh, wings are terrible. I find it disgusting when most people eat them. DH makes fun of me because I use a fork to eat wings:)

I can't stand it! Too bad my best friend in the world is the worst about this. And I don't know how to say anything!

It is probably the biggest pet peeve I have! I cannot stand it, I especially hate when animals make noises with their mouths like when they lick themselves it actually angers me a bit.

@mrsmenow: I eat ribs with a for and DH makes fun of me. I actually also eat wings with a fork but they have to be boneless.
@cyndistar3: Me too! I get so mad at the dog when he licks himself because it actually makes me sick to listen to it!

Ugh, DH makes a soft moaning/grunting sound as he puts food in his mouth. I don't know if he's exhaling or leaning forward but it drives me crazy!

Noodle-splurping makes me want to smother my husband to death.

YES! omg. I was sitting next to a friend in a somewhat quiet room and she was trying to quietly and slowly eat cookies and I wanted to punch her. Ew. Maybe I have misophonia?? I also can't stand when people whisper, cough, or sneeze excessively (the latter 2 make me feel really bad because I know they can't help it...).
hostess / wonderful honeydew / 32460 posts
Hahahahahhahahah all your comments made me lol.
Chewing especially annoys me in the evening when I'm tired! Omg people who naturally chew loud even with their mouths closed keel me too

ALL>THE>TIME.
it makes me so angry sometimes. i swear he has perfected a loud chew to use only when he is mad at me and wants me to know it.

@ladyfingers: I hate people who whisper in such a way that you can hear a faint smacking sound of their lips moving. And when people whisper and it sounds like they're straining to talk. I used to have a coworker that would whisper sometimes and I really wanted to tell her I'd just rather not talk if we're going to whisper.
She also ate really loud.
honeydew / 7916 posts
@mandb36: I also use a fork/knife to eat anything that touches a bone - never ever my fingers, and since this is impossible with fried chicken I just don't eat fried chicken anymore. For some reason the idea of using my fingers to put greasy meat on a bone up to my face is too much.
pomegranate / 3516 posts
@spaniellove: I use a fork with just about everything. I can't stand it when my hands get stuff on them, especially if it's sticky like sauces. It drives me completely up the wall for my hands to be sticky! I usually peel the skin off of fried chicken with a fork and get as much meat as possible before giving up.

Noisy, smacking or talking with a mouth full of food!! The worst. Oh wait - biting forks AWFUL! DH chewing gum is up there too, sounds like a cow chewing its cud. Gross.

Yes! DH was just chewing on ice and I had to say something, it was driving me crazy. He usually never does.

Worst thing ever. I have either have background noise or leave the room, I cannot stand it!!!

Yes. I can't stand people eating, chewing crunching, the sound it makes in their mouth. Ugh. Loud gum chewers, slurpers... ew.
squash / 13199 posts
YES!!! I have a few friends at my job that chew REALLY loudly and make loud sucking and swallowing sounds. I try to ignore it but it really makes my skin crawl. My manager sucks on candy really loudly too. ugh
pomegranate / 3516 posts
@Mrsbells: I hate sucking noises. The worst was when a coworker I used to have would bring a salad and sucking the dressing off of the vegetables before eating them.
Crunching doesn't bother me as much as other eating noises by itself. But what used to drive me nuts was when teachers in college would say they allowed food. There was always one person who thought it was appropriate to eat Doritos during a silent test.
squash / 13199 posts
@BelugaBean: Yeah I'm with you, the crunching isnt as bad as the other sounds, although in at test that doritos would be annoying!!
blogger / watermelon / 14218 posts
I was never bothered by crunching until I got married. Wagon Sr. grinds his teeth in his sleep really badly and I think over the years I have been traumatized by it, because now I cannot listen to him crunch food. If he's eating something crunchy he either has to eat it super slow or leave the room. I feel so bad that he can't eat an apple or cereal on the couch next to me (and how I immediately say "NO, NO, YOUR CRUNCHING, NO" (not a typo on the "your") and direct him out of the room) but I literally have an immediate physical reaction to the sound. It's like my brain screams with agony.
apricot / 483 posts
@Dapple Grey: Haha oh no! I love the sound of crunching!
I generally don't mind chewing sounds, except when someone is eating so fast that they have to take loud breaths in between swallowing and shoveling their next mouthful. My FIL is the worst
