In your experience with "hang dry" clothing - does the garment shrink at all in the wash or would it only shrink if you didn't hang dry?

In my experience, it's the dryer that shrinks clothes. I've not had any issues with clothes shrinking just from being washed.

I've had the washer shrink clothes, it's typically because of the fiber content of the item. What's the hang to dry item?

@looch: 100% cotton shirt - fits perfectly right now (brand new) and I am wondering if I need a bigger size just in case the washer shrinks it!!!

@Mamaof2: I'd probably machine wash it, then hang to dry on a clothes hanger. I do this with a lot of my clothes though, so I have a spot dedicated to it.

@Mamaof2: Yep, what @looch: said. 100% cotton can definitely shrink in the dryer, but they should be okay in the wash. Just wash and then hang dry on a drying rack or hang it up in a closet with ample space.

I hang dry most of my clothes now because the dryer has shrunk so many of my favorite items! I have been known to size up in the past on shirts I know will shrink in the dryer, in case I forget to hang dry them.
