Kinda sounds like Callum which is a boys' name, but my friend's daughter is Calen which is a girls' name.

Is it pronounced Kal-en? If so, I think it sounds like a boy name.

Like Alan with a C? Definitely boy name.

I would never think girl. I've heard it before a couple of times for boys.

The only Callen I know is a boy, so I say boy.

I know 2 Callans (one ends -an, one ends -en), both boys. Both are pronounced like Allan with a C.

yes, it sounds like "Kaitlyn" or "Kailyn" (without the t, but both spelled a variety of ways.)

Kay-lin, Kai-lyn, etc. is a very popular name in the Midwest and I never know if the person is saying "Kate-Lin" or "Kay-Lin"

@NovBaby1112: i think that's the case with most names these days! even my normal 80s name can be spelled a bunch of different ways, so either people ask, spell it correctly, or spell it totally wrong, even old friends! ha.

R's name apparently can be spelled with an E instead of A and i've most commonly heard it as a boy's name, but it didn't stop me!

Boy name for sure. if it was pronounced Kay-len then I would say girl but Cal-len for sure boy.

@NovBaby1112: I've met a couple Callan's, which were all boys, so I associate it with being a male name.

C-Allen is definitely boy to me....cay-Len is girlier
