Sorta. Mine contributes a certain percentage of your salary, regardless of whether or not you contribute.

Yes, to an extent. They match 1/2 of employee contributions up to 6%.

It does! They just decreased it by 1.5% last year though...total bummer, but both DH and my companies do match and we feel pretty lucky about that!

Nope. It's a small, independently-owned newspaper, and they literally can't afford to do a match.

Not really. Ours doesn't require us to put anything in, but every month they put in a little over 20% of my salary. It's really nice and I definitely don't take it for granted!

No, they offer a Christmas bonus that has the option of being added tax free into your 401K at the end of the year if you choose. otherwise you can take it (and about 1/2 goes to taxes of it)

@runnerd: Can't beat it! Our chair noted in his last job that few people were saving enough for retirement, so he made sure we do by compensating us this way. Works for me!

Yes, they match 100% up to 4% of my salary. It used to be 6%, but they cut it down a few years ago.

@plantains: that is awesome!!
Mine does! They offer a great match of 7% -- and it can increase the longer you work here.

@hellobeeboston: I love the idea of an increase to go along with longevity at the company. A reason to stay.

Yep, they match 100% up to 3% of my salary and then .5 up to 5%.

This is the first company I've worked at that doesn't have a match. We're a startup (well, post-startup, I guess). We have amazing health coverage though. And I got a nice raise last year and am able to max out my own 401(k) contributions. So, it works out.
My husband's company matches. He works for a major corporation.

They put in 1% regardless of whether you contribute or not, and match up to a total of 5%.

Yes. They used to match 50% of our contribution up to 5% (so 2.5% of our salary) but our company changed to an ESOP so they cut it in half (25% of 5% = 1.25% of salary) and contribute to the ESOP fund.
I'm thankful they do something, but I'm jealous of the amounts on this thread!

Forgot to answer, yes mine is 100% up to 3%. My first job was 6%, which was pretty good... It set the bar high for me and none of my other jobs have met it.

We get 25% of our contributions upto 10% of our salary. But we also have a vesting schedule that allows you only 25% of the match for each year until you hit 4 years (100%). So if you leave after only one year it really only works out to a 6% match. Not that great IMO. My last job had a better match. But still better than nothing!

Maybe - ours does a 'discretionary match' at the end of the year if they feel like it. It sucks that they don't even give us an earnings goal or anything. I think it was about $100 last year.
