So many kids in my DD's class have their ears pierced! Right now I just use the tattoo earrings on her since they look cute.
I think I will wait until she asks to have them done and then take her.
btw she is 3

Nope. DH thought they got done when they are little but I told him that we were going to wait and let her make the choice if she wants them pierced. He said ok!

Nope. Like @Smurfette:, we're going to wait until LO decides she wants them pierced. Totally her call!

Not yet but she will. Ear piercing is cultural. Most white americans wait till later when the girls are older. Central and South american, middle eastern, and south asian cultures tend to ear pierce as soon as possible.
My husband is south asian and we'll be doing it soonish. Our pediatrician is Indian and she does it in her office.

My daughter got her ears pierced when she was 1 day old. The only females I know in Mexico who DON'T have their ears pierced are foreign. So yeah, it's cultural for sure, and we went local on this one

No, but my mom has been bugging me to get them done since DD was born. If we lived in the States, I would have gotten them done already, but it's not common at all here - as in there isn't even a place to go to for a baby, so no. Plus, with DD's personality, I'm afraid she'd just yank them off!

What are tattoo earrings?
We meant to pierce DD1's ears but at 19 months I'm a little afraid we missed our window of opportunity for now. We plan to pierce DD2's ears a few months after she's born, so maybe we will do DD1's then.

@PinkElephant: mini tattoos for your ears - I get mine from poppy drops

Nope. If she wants them done we will probably save it for something like 6th grade graduation

We are waiting until she is old enough to ask for it and help take care of them. I wasn't allowed to until I was 10 and that seems like roughly a good age.
I know in my head that it's no big deal and doesn't really hurt them that young, but having seen her get a blood draw at 3 days old, and sobbing hysterically (me, not her) I couldn't bear to pierce them!

I want them pierced but I have this irrational fear of them hurting her while they're healing & her not understanding why she's in pain. I have several piercings so I know that can hurt sometimes during healing & I just can't do it. lol she is 4.5 months.
But once she asks we'll go right away, if she's big enough to ask, she will be big enough for me to explain that it will hurt a little.

Nope. She's 5. She hasn't even talked about wanting it so she can get it when she asks.

Nope! She's 5 months, and so many people are asking if we are going to get them pierced. I figure we will wait until she asks.

No, I'm going to wait until they ask for it.

Not yet but we're planning on getting them pierced at the pediatrician while she's still little. I think they offer it at the 4 month appt but I'm not positive.

We have a boy but we talked about this before we knew he was a boy, and D said it was important to him that if we had a girl that we wait until she was old enough to ask....he felt it was a rite of passage that required a dose of bravery.
I asked to get mine pierced for my 9th birthday.

Not yet. My mother keeps asking me when we are going to do it and I remind her that she didn't have our ears pierced (my sister and I) until we were 4 or 5. I think she'd look cute with them and people always think she's a boy since she has short hair. She is one of the only little Black girls I see with no earrings which is why my fam keeps asking.

No. She's only 6 months old so I worry about them being a choking hazard. We'll wait til she's old enough to ask for them herself...I'm in no rush.

We won't pierce her ears until she starts asking, and then probably not until a special occasion or as a really special treat, like a bday present or something. I got mine pierced when I was 10 (shortly before my brother's bar mitzvah) and I'd been asking for awhile by then, but I remember it being really hard to take care of them for the first couple years (which is funny, since now it's like nothing!) and getting a lot of infections.

We are waiting till she asks for them. I think it is adorable but want it to be her choice.

They are almost 6 yo and 2.5 yo and haven't asked yet! I've offered my eldest to have them done, but she doesn't want to just yet.
grapefruit / 4903 posts
Nope. I plan to wait until she asks or until she's 10, whichever comes later.
pineapple / 12053 posts
I'll wait until she asked. I got it done for my 5th or 6th birthday!
As a side note, I've gone with 3 people (in HS and college) to get their ears pierced for the first time!

Yes, they were done just before she turned one. It's not at all cultural for us, we just wanted her to have pierced ears and have no regrets about it at all.
Well maybe I regret the lost diamond earring, but that's a different question.

No way! I cried at her last vaccination appointment before we even went in and suggested to DH that polio might be preferable - there's no way I could take her to have her ears pierced! Not even when she asks - DH will have to take her!
