Constantly cough up snot in the shower?? You know what I mean. He does that hacking sound in his throat then I can hear him spit and he does it probably at least 10 times each time he showers. It drives me INSANE.
I'm just now noticing it because I am going to bed much earlier now that I'm pregnant . It wakes me up when he showers after I've gone to sleep!!! He's broken his nose like 3 times (sports) so I think he may need to go to a doctor.
This can't be normal! It drives me crazy!

OH MY GOD!! My husband does this all the time. He was doing it this morning and I could hear it from downstairs and I was getting so disgusted/annoyed!!!! My husband has terrible sinus issues and needs to have surgery (for a second time) but refuses to do it because the recovery was so rough the first time around.

Yes except he doesn't just do it in the shower. Half the time it grosses me out and the other half I tune it out. DH has broken his nose twice I think so I wonder if it's related!

@mandb36: my husband doesn't always do it in the shower either and i'm better able to tune it out then but I have had to insist he go spit it in the bathroom. He was spitting it in our kitchen garbage if he's not near a bathroom and that was making me gag. I think it has to be related

@anonysquire: Luckily DH always does it in a sink and rinses the sink out. He didn't once at his parents' house and his dad called him out on it so he never did it again.

@luckypenny: my DH peed in the shower once and told me about it and I freaked on him! I was like "i clean that with my hands!" haha! We don't share a bathroom now that we are in a bigger house - and I LOVE having my own space.

The past few months he has been HACKING LIKE CRAZY and it makes me want to gag all the time. I get the heebies just thinking about it. Luckily he just had an apt with an ears/nose/throat who gave him some allergy medication....I don't know how much more I could take!

He does this constantly. Not just in the shower. Also when he brushes his teeth or washes his face. It used to really gross me out, but now I guess I'm used to it.

@Andrea: lucky. My DH spits all the freaking time. He says it's cause he has heartburn. I think it's so gross and disrespectful.

Although I will add that if we're out, sometimes he'll do this in a parking lot in some bushes or something.

Yes!! What is this? Why do only men do it? Every time my husband makes that noise I wretch and think to myself how I have never in my life felt the urge to do that.

@coacheswife123: Yes, I have to say in the past week or so it has been MUCH BETTER. He found out that he is crazy allergic to grass and birch bark (random) .... he claims he can't cut the lawn anymore, ha !

YES!!! I HATE it and I yell at him all the time for it but he does it constantly. Actually last night when we were eating dinner he did it....and it like idk must have gotten stuck in his throat....then he started gagging/coughing...i thought he was going to throw up! So then needless to say I didn't finish my dinner. I was SOOO pissed at him (not because he almost threw up) but because he did that at the dinner table while we were eating.

@coacheswife123: I don't understand it either. I have never felt the need to cough/hack up anything, ever, except for maybe when I am battling a bad cold!
And oh man, don't get me started on the spitting. To DH, any place with a hard surface (tile, hardwood, etc) is an acceptable place to spit! Even inside the house!! When we moved in together I had to stop him from doing that stat. But I'm always terrified when we go visit someone else's home, haha!

Oh yeah. It is soooo gross. He normally does it in the bathroom but sometimes, when his allergies are really bad, he will do it in the bedroom. He normally apologizes for it when he's not in the bathroom. He will spit in his bedroom trash can and THAT makes me want to hurl.

@mediagirl: Oh man, a few weeks ago I was cleaning up and was overzealous and threw out a bill. When I reached into the trash can to rescue it, I also stuck my hand in the spit/loogie/whatever

@mediagirl: I agree! We got in a huge fight a month or so ago because I said if he had to do it then I wanted him to spit it in the bathroom instead of the kitchen. (this was after I caught him spitting in the kitchen sink??!!??) and he was all like "what's the difference". GAG.

@Boogs: you know I've noticed his mother doing this when she stays with us so i think that is where he picked it up! I don't want him to pass this along to our son! haha! And I think you're right, the steam must loosen things up!

GAH!! My dad has done this my entire life, DH doesn't though. He will use the netipot in the shower if he's congested though. Ugh, I reall don't miss this about living with my parents.
