Mine does... sometimes I wish that it didn't! But it's probably good discipline for me to stand behind everything I write and email online...
Does your email address have your name in it?

Yup because mulan12121@gmail.com on a resume doesn't look professional.

@Alivoo01: I totally agree! One of my husband's coworkers almost didn't get an interview because his email address was something like ChewyDogg69@yahoo.com or something.

My professional emails do, but I keep two random junk ones for anonymity.
pomelo / 5331 posts
Yep. But my maiden name. Gmail makes it horrific to switch, you have to get a whole new mailbox.

I have a personal account that doesn't have my name and I have an alternate account with my name in the email.
papaya / 10560 posts
yes, first and last. i've had the same email since i was probably around 14...haven't changed it, even when i got married. i have a separate email for work related items.
grapefruit / 4554 posts
yup. I have two my primary one and also one with my married name (which I don't use that often)

Yes, and like others have mentioned I'm so thankful it does because it seems more professional/appropriate for sending emails. Last year I was corresponding with one of my students' parents via e-mail and it was so hard for me to take the mother seriously because her email address was biznitch something or other. In my opinion...not appropriate for emailing your child's teacher.

Mine has my first and middle initials and my last name.
pomegranate / 3414 posts
Yes, first and middle initial (or first two letters of first name since they are the same) and last name. For my job I have to periodically review resumes and it drives me nuts and looks completely unprofessional (in my opinion) when someone is applying for a job and their e-mail address is something like "hotinabikini@". I wanted to make it easy but still professional.

@mrbee: I wouldn't say she was a bad student by any means but it was painfully obvious the type of environment she was growing up in and the things she was exposed to, the mother's e-mail address only solidified my suspicions about things.

@ladyfingers: I just got a new gmail account with my married name and set up an auto response on my old one and had it auto forward to my new one. Easy peasy.

Mine has always had my name in it!
It use to be first.maiden@gmail.com. Now, my married name is common so it's firstmiddleinitialjohnson#@gmail.com - I had no choice but to add a number. Every single variation of my name with Johnson was taken!
coconut / 8854 posts
Yes, its my first initial, maiden name and the year i was born because othr variations were taken
pomelo / 5331 posts
@MamaMoose: Yeah, I know but I was trying to find a way to transfer everything over because I frequently have to look back into old folders. They used to let you do that, but not anymore. So I'd have to log into two accounts -- not worth it to me.
coconut / 8475 posts
Yes. I have 3 emails.
1- work related (for my resume) and it is my full name with a period in between first and last
2- personal: it is my first name and maiden name
3- weddingbee/hellobee/etsy/ebay email and it is my first name and my husbands last name.
All are connected to my phone and literally anyone could email me on any of them if you knew my name--it's too easy
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
Mine is the alumni version of my college email. It has my initials in it.
GOLD / wonderful coffee bean / 18478 posts
Yes, I think it is easiest for people to remember and it is more professional if you use your name.
apricot / 302 posts
Yep, but I have a second email I use for junk like store coupon signups and all that and it doesn't have my name in it, just my initials and some numbers.
pineapple / 12793 posts
I have too many email accounts to keep track of, now they all forward into my gmail box. I have first.maiden@gmail, heandshe@gmail, firstmaidenmarried@gmail, first ##@undergrad.edu, initials@grad.edu, oldjunk@yahoo.com, professional@work.ca, can'tremembermypassword@hotmail.com
cantaloupe / 6730 posts
My work one does, but my personal one is the latin name of a shrub (wanted a one word email and was taking a botony class at the time) and my junk one is a name I made up.
pineapple / 12053 posts
yep, my name @ gmail!
@ladyfingers: i thought it was hard to switch for gmail, but I realized that you can forward your madien name emails to your married name email until you don't get maiden name emails anymore! it was super easy once i realized that and i didn't have to worry about missing any emails... but then i realized that most of my emails are junk subscriptions!
pear / 1769 posts
Yes, I use my first (only the nn version), middle initial and married last in my most current. My maiden name on was my last name followed by the first two letters of my first name. I also have an old one that I rarely check that collects junk mail and use for some sites as log in that is just something I made up in high school.
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21628 posts
Mine is my first and middle initial and then my last name.
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
@LindsayInNYC: same here, my last name was taken, so my first email was firstname.lastname####@gmail.com, I had to add some numbers and didn't like how it looked. So I changed it to firstnamemiddlename@gmail.com
THEN I got married and now have BOTH an obscure first AND last name so I got my email firstname.lastname@gmail.com
@ladyfingers: Yeah, I just set up mail forwarding from each account I've used in the past.

Mine has a nickname, which is also my initials (emma) and then the floor I lived on in college (5w). I have kept it since my freshman year of college and feel like it's ok to use, even for resumes and stuff.
persimmon / 1202 posts
Anything official or medical, yes. My main e-mail has nothing to do with my name.
blogger / watermelon / 14218 posts
first name, maiden name, last name. Just more professional.
