A vent: my MIL sometimes takes pics of LO that I post on facebook, saves them and then posts them as her own, rather than just sharing my pics. It drives me crazy. It's not a huge big deal, but every time she does it, I get a little rage-y. You want to show your friends pics of LO? Come visit. Take some.

Maybe she doesn't know how to "share" them on FB? That'd probably bug me a little, too.
I know my MIL saves them so she can scrapbook them, which I'm fine with.

My family all share them, so maybe that's her equivalent? Ask her if she knows how to share on FB.. that will either show you that she doesn't, or give her a hint that you're not really digging her just reposting them

None of my family does this, but if they did I would be PISSED. I set up my privacy settings pretty securely, so I'd be really upset if someone stole my private pictures to post to whoever they want! I'd probably ask her to take it down and if she didn't, I'd report it!

Dhs grandma tags herself in every.single.photo of Dd. Lol. She doesn't know how to share and she wants all her friends to see. We just laugh, it's a running joke now!

My mum likes to make her own albums on fb so I can imagine her doing this when this baby is born. It wouldn't bother me. Maybe that is just how she likes to organise things.

My lil bro posts pics of DS that I text him via phone sometimes on his IG or FB. I don't mind. He's out of state and can't take pics readily

I think it's extremely unlikely that she doesn't know how to share them - come on, which is easier: hitting the share button that pops up right under the photo, or saving the picture to her computer and then posting it as her own? My assumption would be that she is actually MORE tech savvy than people are assuming, and she knows that if you have the photo set as friends only and she hits share, people who aren't friends with you still won't be able to see it.
But does it actually bother you for her to post photos of LO, or is this more of an underlying issue with her not visiting enough?

None of my family does this, but sometimes my mom puts up photos that I've texted her. Except she doesn't know how to save them to her camera roll so she just screenshots the text message and then uploads it. So it's got her phone time and battery level at the top, etc. I tried to teach her how to save them and then upload to Facebook but she likes doing it her own way!

Would this annoy you equally if it were your mother, not your mother in law?
I would think it weirder if your MIL printed them off and displayed them in her house, but this, NBD.

People do weird stuff with FB. I get why you're annoyed, though. You should just mention casually one day, "oh, there is an option to share, that's much easier..."
My dad sometimes tags random people in photos of my baby. I think he thinks that's sharing. Hehe.

DH's aunt, who lives in NYC and I've never met started doing this with M. Once I told her that I keep my privacy settings pretty secure for a reason, and asked her to stop, she unfriended me. Whatever, I don't know her, and I only had her on my FB cause she was DH's aunt.

My grandma does this and it doesn't bother me, 1) because I don't' think she knows how to share & 2) I already posted it so I don't know see why it would be a big deal for her to post it again? She lives out of state.

My family isn't on social media. However, I send pictures to my mom and she forwards them to her relatives who make the craziest collages. My uncle made a few and mailed some to my FIL...and he has these framed!

She knows how to share - she's done it before.
It's really not a big deal and I don't get too bent out of shape about it. I'm really surprised that I do get annoyed about it. Just trying to figure out why.

@wonderstruck: Another good point. My mom lives 1300 miles away and can't visit easily. MIL is a four hour drive and she has come twice in LO's 18 months. To be fair, she doesn't have a lot of $$ and gas is expensive. Also, since her last visit, DH and I decided that her husband (DH's "stepfather"), who DH has never liked, isn't allowed to come anymore. He's generally creepy, but now we're pretty convinced that he's on something illegal. Not looking forward to that conversation.

@BlueWolverine: My dad does this all the time. It slightly annoys me, but it's more that I think it's bad "facebook etiquette" or something. I don't really care since I know it's just that he loves his grandkids so much, but I do make comments to DH when he does it. The thing that annoys me a little bit more, as @wonderstruck: suggests, is that we hardly ever see him yet he posts the pictures with his own captions, like, C on St. Pat's Day-- and it looks like he visited us for St. Patrick's day, when in fact he was 5 hours away, as he always is. He definitely could visit more, but he has some anxiety about traveling (which he wouldn't admit) so whatever.
As long as he is doing this with a photo I already posted to FB, I don't really care. I put it on FB, and I kind of figure no matter the privacy settings, it's out there. He has done it once with a photo I only posted to our private share site, which I did think was worse, but I didn't really care so I let it go. He once posted a pic my sister had texted, that she didn't want on FB, and she asked him to take it down and he got kind of huffy about it, but did it.

Yep. It's why I stopped putting pics on FB a long time ago. My MIL flat out right click saves pics. So, I post them to a Shutterfly site with the inability to right click save them. This is the same woman who cropped me out of a birth pic of my son. I changed all privacy settings on FB, so she can't do that anymore. I post pics on IG with a privacy setting because she's not on there.

@Charm54: OMG my mom used to do the same thing! I had to change my settings so that I review everything I'm tagged in because she would tag me in pictures of her new hair so I would see them. It was so annoying!

yep. I have a family member that does this and it's really annoying - mainly because she saves them so she can circumvent my privacy settings! if she "shares," her friends can't see them. but when she saves it and reposts it, the whole world can. it pisses me off.

I'm pickin up what you're puttin down! LOL that would annoy me and I also bet she knows how to share them! My mom lives far away so she really relies on FB to keep up with DD's activities and that is ok with me.. BUT she constantly tags herself in my pics!! And sometimes she'll even tag herself AFTER I've already tagged her. I know she misses DD so I will occasionally tag her so that when she gets on she'll have a little surprise and I know she'll like that.. but geesh.. don't double tag yourself! SMH

My grandma will tag herself (and other family members) in pictures and share pictures. It drives me crazy. She has zero clue how Facebook works so I think I might just block her. Haahhaa.

I'd be really annoyed. I want to control who can see pics of my LO online so we shared with family only by an shared album that you had to be invited and log on to see. Well...SIL took it upon herself to download and post our photos to FB when we made a big deal that we did not want them on there. She got nasty when I asked her to take them down so I stopped sharing with her. They are your pics and your LO so you should be able to dictate how they are shared. Good luck!
