LO's first name is not a family name but her middle name is the female version of my grandfather's name.

Her middle name is my mom and MIL's middle name. We lucked out in the fact that they both have the same middle name - easy to honour both!

First name, no (although a bunch of people have asked, since it's old fashioned-ish). Middle name, kind of-- my middle name is Mary, my mom is Mary, both grandmothers and MIL are forms of Mary, so I wanted a form of Mary for C. My grandma's friends call her Mae and C was due right before her 90th birthday, so it was extra fitting.

Her middle name is DH's great grandmother's name. Although I suggested it without knowing that, it just sort of worked out.

@Foodnerd81: When I called to make M's ENT appt yesterday the receptionist said be sure to give her middle initial when we check in at the appt because there is another patient with her exact name but she's 80 years old! Lol!

Yes. R has my middle name which was also my daddy's name as her middle name. S is a III so he is clearly named after DH and FIL. All future children will have a family name either as first or middle.

Her first name is my great grandmas name and her middle name was the name my mom was given at birth (she changed it later because no one called her by that name) and it has special significance for my grandma.

His first middle name is his fathers and grandfathers name, and his second middle name is my maiden name.

Yes.
His name is Evan Charles.
D and my FIL both have the middle name Evans, and it was D's paternal grandmother's maiden name. In fact, had we had a girl, it's very possible she would have been named Grace Evans McK, which was his grandmother's name. And Charles is my MIL's maiden name (we also considered D's maternal grandfather's first name for a middle, but I didn't think that Evan Howard has the same flow as Evan Charles...)

Yep - but it's not our family's name! F has a pretty unusual name and people always ask us how we decided on it. Short story - we say it's a family name and leave it at that. Long story - we have a very good friend who has a family name that goes way back (like, 75 men in his family line, including his own son). We made a bet with him saying we'd name our firstborn after him if we lost. We won, but we loved it so much that we asked if we could do it anyway. And he said yes!
We've moved away from those friends, but I'm so glad we got to strengthen our friendship by "borrowing" his family's name.

Yep. It's LO's paternal great grandparents' last name as his middle name. We happened to be the second one in DH's extended family to do this. One of DH's cousins has the paternal maiden name of her grandma (LO's great grandma). DH's uncle thought it was pretty neat that we did it.
