My LO surprises me with how amazing her memory is. She once brought up something that happened a year ago (that we had never talked about). She was only 2 yo when it happened.
She also randomly started asking for a toy recorder that she had been given at school and I had put away after 1 day of playing with it. Again, this was months after she had seen it.

@sunny: For things I've hidden from her? Yep. For what she ate at daycare or what she did that day at daycare? Nope.

Yes! He's almost two (well. He turns two tomorrow!!) and he brings up things that happened months ago! Like he spilled water in his ambulance toy and it had to go in the garage. Randomly he just says "ambulance! Water! Garage!!!" Lol.

NOTHING gets by her! Yesterday she wanted to not use her car seat when we were at the park going to another spot and I explained how we always use our seatbelt and she comes back with "well one time Grandma let me sit in the front seat on her lap at the cabin" this was last June, my mom drove her from their cabin to our cabin 4 down because it was raining. She was 2 1/2 when it happened...ha.

My son does. This summer when he was 4.5, he talked to me about something that had happened just before he was 2.5, even I had forgotten about it! Another time, we ate at an outdoor restaurant in the summer with friends. Six months later we walked by at sunset, when the outdoor seating was long put away, and he said "hey, we ate there with X and Y!".

Yep! He constantly surprises with things, places, people that he remembers from over a year go or things that only happened once or people we rarely see! He even remembers funny and random things like a new coat I bought and that it is exactly like my SIL's coat... (he said this to me the other day).

Yup, she will bring up random things from over a year ago that *I've* forgotten about. DH has a insane good long term memory. He remember stuff from when he was a baby sleeping in a crib at his grandparents. Younger than 2! So she must get it from him.

Yes! The other day I mentioned Easter and she started talking about looking for colorful eggs (and she used the word colorful). I'm pretty sure we hadn't talked about it since April! But sometimes t seems like she has no concept of things that just happened vs a year ago- like "remember when I looked for Easter eggs?" has the same relevance as "remember when I fell and hit my mouth?" (This morning).

Yes. It's kind of scary actually haha. She remembers everyone's names. She saw my husbands family last weekend after not having seen them for months and was able to recite all 11 of their names and 17 of my families names and 5 friends names that had been at her birthday party. And she makes little scribbles on paper and remembers weeks later what it was she drew. "That's sia" for that's Sofia. "That's a dog". Hilarious!!

Yes and it's so freaky/awesome! She'll be two in two weeks and she remembers the most random things that happened so long ago and/or were only mentioned once. I swear it's like toddlers have little photographic memories!

Yeah, the 4 and almost 3 year old remember random stuff but they have short term issues...I can't find my ____!

Oh my gosh, yes!! She'll say stuff like, "remember when I was a baby and..." - and she'll recall a memory from when she's 2 and under. Crazy! Sometimes I'll ask, "who told you that??" but she really does remember things all on her own.
