My kids are 19 months and 3 months and I want to take them to the beach this week during DH's staycation! I think my toddler will have a good time but I'm worried about my baby getting too hot....maybe I need a tent!

Get a tent!! We put up a tent my parents had in their attic and it worked out great! It wasn't anything fancy but it was perfect for a shady spot when we wanted to get M out of the sun. I would definitely put a baby in there and sit outside with the toddler, letting her play in the sand.
M was 12 months when we took her to the beach the first time. She loved playing in the sand with the shovel. She also loved toppling the sand castles I made for her.

Yes p loved the beach! The tent is a great idea, we had 1 and we were able to keep him out of the Sun.

Definitely get a tent! We picked one up (10x10) from walmart and it was a life saver. There was plenty of shade for DD, any time of the day, and it kept me from getting fried.
W is still out on whether or not she likes the beach. She just likes to eat the sand....

I just took my 3 month old to the beach this weekend. We had a tent, which was the single most important part of being able to enjoy it. We also brought her little bathtub and filled it up with water so she could splash around in the shade. She loved it!

There are no decent beaches near us so she hasn't been yet.
