My LO who is 3.5 likes me to time her when she is doing something these days, like going potty, going up to get her pajamas from her room etc. It's not too bad actually because it typically gets her to do things she isn't too excited about doing. It definitely helps move things along!

I use the timer for time limits - like screen time, afternoon quiet time, how long until we have to leave, etc- and he responds really well to that!

@Mrs. Pen: She legit wants me to count "1, 2, 3...." then I just "count in my head" and throw out a number when she gets back lol! I like that actual timer idea though...

@Bao: I initially had done it just for screen time - then he started asking for it more often! so we'll even do it during clean up and see if he can beat his time - haha.

Yes! And he also thinks he is "beating" me or daddy when getting dressed in the morning even though we never indicated it's a race. Lol. He's 3.5.

I don't have kids yet, but this made me think of when I was younger. Me and my brother would do this with our little brother all the time!
Me: "Can you go get my book for me?"
Him: "No"
Me: "But I'll time you! Readysetgo!"
*He would run to get my book*
It worked until he got older and caught on!
