DH takes the LOs to toddler storytime and crafts class at the local library on Tuesday mornings. The librarians usually have theme weeks so the LOs learned about dogs yesterday.
I take them to story & music time at children's museum on the weekends.

It does,but I found it quite stressful taking A once she could walk as she just wanted to run about and grab stuff rather than sit nicely and listen. I think we'll try again soon though.

@petunia354: ya, same!
no weekend programs here!

They're on Friday morning, so my son can't attend, he has a standing appointment at that time.
We do need to get to the library, badly.

Yup. I loved it when I was a SAHM. It was fun and I met other moms there too. I wish there were weekend ones for working parents.
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22646 posts
Yep, but you have to sign up... and it's always during the work week
GOLD / wonderful pomegranate / 28905 posts
Yes but it's always during the workweek. The toddler programs are few and far between. It's annoying.

Yes; but like others, it's only during the week. Apparently working parents don't have any interest in taking their LO's to the library on the weekend (sigh)

Yep - we have story time or a music class every day except Sunday, at most libraries in the city (there are 2-3 within walking distance of my house). Some libraries have more than 1 per day. Our nanny takes the girls at least 3-4 times per week now that they are one nap.
I have, of course, never been since I'm usually at work at 10 am!

Same as what others have said -- they're all mid-day on weekdays so we can't go.

Same as others - they do, but they're all during the day during the week so us working parents can't bring our kids.

Yes! There are so many options, including ones in languages other than English.
When LO was younger we went all the time, but his naps started to interfere and now I've gotten out of the habit. I need to start going again!

We do have ones during the week and on Saturdays, which sounds less common than I would think. Now that it is do hot, we have been going every Saturday the last few weeks. They do a great job with the kids programming!

Yes our library system has a ridiculous amount of them BUT they're all mid-morning during the week. We go in the summer when I'm off work and they're very fun!
grapefruit / 4085 posts
Yes, we go on weekday mornings. They also have a music program once a month.

Just discovered our local B&N also has story time and on Sundays!

Yes, but during the summer they don't have weekend ones
I'm hoping to take G once they start back up in the fall.
@blackbird: Yep. There are no programs available for babies/toddlers in my city that I can take her to right now, because apparently every working mom is a teacher who has summers off.
watermelon / 14206 posts
yep. they do big free summer things for older kids, too. last week it was a marionette show, this week it's a jack and the beanstalk show.

Yes. We have two local libraries. One has a storytime mid-morning during the week & another one evening a week (like at 5 I think). Then the other has 3 different story times per week for the different ages, a Lego building program, weekly family movies plus a ton of things in the month of June for babies all the way up to middle school. I love the library

Our library has a bunch of story times but only during the weekdays so it doesn't work for us. But are participating in the summer reading club and my DD has already earned a book as a prize.

Yepp- there are tons! They also have a family craft night on Wednesday nights. We love our library!!
All of the storytimes are on summer break June-September though. I really miss it!!

Lots during the week and weekend. Less now that it is the summer.

@Running Elley: wow. Our library took a break for a month in May & it sucked so bad, I would miss it so much if ours went on break that long
honeydew / 7586 posts
Yes! I live in the city, so there are a ton of libraries close by. It is pretty easy to find a class any day of the week, except Sunday. The one closest to me has a Saturday afternoon slot. We also have two libraries that have "Storyville." It is a giant play area for kids set up like a little community with a grocery store, houses, reading areas, etc.

@Mrs. Sunshine: It's horrible
It's extra sad because our storytime lady didn't want to take a break at all! Last year she only took a break for the month of August. This year they had a new superintendent who forced her to take the entire summer off. She cried at the last session in May!
