We don't live near my parents so DH doesn't complain a lot but he gets annoyed when they repeat the same advice. Rinse & repeat.
No complaints about my brother.

He complains about my brothers sometimes! They are young and not always nice.

Nope. DH is very respectful when it comes to my family. He'll agree with me when I complain about them, but he won't come out right and say "I didn't like what your *insert family member* said or did." We'll see if that changes at all after we have kids.

No--he is so good about putting up with them, especially as I often complain about his!

Yes! my parents and brother but for different reasons. Not without merit, but we are going to try to pursue a policy of positive thinking and constructive engagement this holiday season and see how it goes...

Ugh, yes! He can be very open about the things he doesn't like about my family. It drives me crazy!

Yes, we both complain about each others' families. But we are each more annoyed by our own families than by the other's.

Yep...well, really just my mom. But, she's annoying, and I complain about it, too.

No, nothing harsh or negative is our rule, mostly we just joke about eachothers' family's idiosyncracies.

Sometimes. Nothing to harsh, but when they do something annoying.
We tend to both complain more about his family though.

My family adores him so he really doesn't have much to complain about.

He doesn't know most of them, so generally it's me complaining about them. But he and my stepbrother hate each other, and I'm pretty sure it has the potential to one day come to blows (stepbrother totally has it coming to him, he's a douchecanoe to the nth degree).
papaya / 10473 posts
Nope, they are really good to him. My sister irritates him sometimes, but he loves BIL so it balances out.
cantaloupe / 6171 posts
he sometimes complains about my brother, but I can't think of a time he's complained about my parents. I'm much worse about complaining about his family than he is, though my family is less dramatic, so...

Sometimes but rarely my immediate family. We both tend to complain about the same things and people on both sides! But I admit I complain a lot about a few of his relatives lately. Just 4 people...who luckily he can't stand either!
papaya / 10343 posts
Eh not really. There are certain members I know he doesn't like spending time with, but neither do I. I probably gripe about his family more.
clementine / 849 posts
We complain about each others' constantly. But we've been around them since we were 14 (best friends in high school), so we're practically PART of each others families too.

not at all. and for how much time he spends with them (my parents have lived with us for short periods of time, my mom is over during the week to watch DS, etc.) i think he's got more patience that i ever would if the situation was reversed!
he did get annoyed a couple of times this summer when my dad broke our lawn mower (fixable, but annoying). he got it over pretty quickly tho because my dad was mowing our lawn for us (while unemployed at the time).

He generally doesn't have an issue with my family. He knows exactly how I feel about his family mainly MIL.
honeydew / 7917 posts
I complain about his, and he occasionally says something about mine. He is more or less just agreeing with me when I complain about my family.
grapefruit / 4817 posts
@shellio: Same here! We both complain some, but we also live within 20 minutes of both families and spend a lot of time with them. But in general, he's way more annoyed with his family than mine. I'm probably equally annoyed with all of them, though.
