I've noticed a lot of guys like to get regular pats on the back. I am not immune from this phenomenon! That said, I am so grateful for everything Mrs. Bee does and try to let her know that every day.
What's your home situation: does your SO expect a pat on the back when "helping out" at home? Is your SO grateful for everything that you do?

He doesn't expect anything, but I do thank him often anyway. I also don't expect anything. I know he appreciates me (especially because he had to spend a few days taking care of LO without my help when I couldn't hold her due to surgery, so he knows how tough it is!) and I appreciate him. But I don't think we should be thanked for things that we are just supposed to be doing.
My dad is huge on thank you's. My mom does EVERYTHING around the house. Literally, everything. But if my dad does the dishes once a month he wants a thank you. And then he complains to me that my mom should have thanked him. Sorry dad, I'm on mom's side for this one!

Hubs is SO grateful for what I do and really is in awe that I can stay at home all day and handle LO. But if the hubs changes a poopy diaper or manages to keep her occupied for an afternoon, he feels he deserves a prize! To me, it's like, "Well, welcome to my life!" but I know he doesn't get it because he's not home...So, it's not his fault.

Yes!! I think this need is slowly going away, though. I think he sees how much I do and work full time so he probably feels a bit silly asking for a pat on the back. But he does always say how much he appreciates everything I do.

Yes! If I don't recognize that he swept, vacuumed or cleaned up, he gets upset. He likes the pat on the back for a job well done.
