Mrs. Bee's family speaks mostly Korean at home. I'm able to follow conversations about simple topics, especially when English is mixed in there! It's pretty easy to get lost though, since my Korean is limited to little phrases my mom said to me when I was a kid (we lived south of Seoul for a while when I was young).

DH's family speaks Spanish. I know enough to understand and follow most conversations, but can't converse in Spanish.

Yup. And same...I can follow along because they use just enough random English words thrown in that I know what they are talking about, but generally I just zone out and busy myself with LO.

They speak Dutch. But his mother only speaks what she knows of English with us (she's his only family in the US and he's not in touch with his family overseas).

DH's mom speaks Italian but didnt' teach it to her kids 
so at home they speak English. My family normally speaks Russian at home but when my English speaking DH is around they make a concerted effort to speak English.

Yes, they speak Cantonese. I only know a few phrases here and there (I'm hungry... I'm full... thank you)

Yep! My husband's family speaks Vietnamese - when they all get together I usually have no clue what's going on. They keep telling me Vietnamese is "easy" to learn but I'm not buying it...

My SO's family speaks Korean. I don't know a lot--just what I learned living there for a year (over ten years ago!). I usually understand the topic but not the details. I've mostly given up speaking it because I've forgotten so much and am so out of practice.
My FIL speaks some English, but my MIL doesn't. When we get together, it's often comical trying to communicate. 
Our baby is coming soon, and I'm encouraging my SO to speak Korean with her so she will be able to communicate with her grandparents.

My in-laws speak Vietnamese. Luckily my FIL speaks to us in English, and it's really easy to have a conversation with him. My MIL speaks mainly in Vietnamese but will speak to me in English. DH's aunts and uncles frequently forget that I don't speak or understand Vietnamese.
@shortiecake: It's not easy to learn for me. I only know words that are similar to Cantonese words like soy sauce. The tones mess me up.

@yin: I can't imagine it would be easy! I only speak English (and a little Spanglish 
) -- some family members try to get me to pronounce certain words and then laugh at me when I do. It's nice your IL's speak to you in English - a lot of DH's family members are bilingual but they tend to just stick to Vietnamese.

@Meridian: I feel like "I'm full" is the most important phrase you need to know with Chinese families.
DH's family speaks Cantonese, so I usually turn to him for translation. I can understand a few phrases.

My IL's speak Arabic and my husband understands a little of it. My IL's only speak it when they want to talk in front of us without us knowing what they are saying. It drives me crazy and I think it's so rude.

Not really another language but another dialect, my in-laws (especially FIL's side) mostly speak in Patois and it can get super confusing depending on who is talking but I don't mind. It means I understand much more reggae lol

Not fluently or all the time, although FIL likes to scream phrases in italian at DS (really, the child is like 1/4 italian sheesh)
