I was thinking about asking for a Zofran prescription just in case at my appt tomorrow because my nausea is suddenly a lot worse (at almost 21w, wth!). I'm not throwing up although today I really thought I would all day. Is it true though that Zofran only stops the vomiting and doesn't do a thing for nausea? Unisom + B6 isn't working anymore.

YES. I didn't vomit much, but Zofran made me a functional human being through about 17 weeks. Do it, seriously.

Yes! It doesn't go away completely but it helps a lot. I had HORRIBLE all day sickness and wouldn't have survived without it!

I think it depends. It stopped the worst of my throwing up but I definitely still threw up sometimes and felt nauseous. I also had a really bad case of HG though.

For me, it doesn't but it's probably because of my HG. It's suppose to help with both though from what my doctor said.

I'm on it now and my nausea is still debilitating. I'm not throwing up though.

It didn't for me, but I think it was too busy fighting my 20+ vomiting sessions a day (gah I make pregnancy sound so glam). Actually, I still occasionally vomit even with the Zofran.
I think there was a poll done about this last year, but can't remember and I'm on my cellphone.

I feel like such a wimp; I know I don't have HG b/c I've been gaining weight. But I'm a little bitter that my OB was so confident that Unisom + B6 would work all the way through 40 weeks and I'd feel great.

It helped me! I was only nauseous, no vomiting, and Zofran made it more tolerable for sure. Unisom and b6 didn't work for me.

I only took Zofran a handful of times, and for me it really helped with the nausea. With that said, my morning sickness never made me vomit, so take my experience with a grain of salt.

@spaniellove: you're not a wimp!! All day sickness is horrible, even when you're not vomiting. I seriously thought I was losing my grip on reality. If there is a solution, which there is, take it!

I have had the worst freaking nausea the last few weeks at 36 weeks...wth!! I am constantly gagging and dry heaving with occasional vomiting. Like...totally barfed in the car on the way to work yesterday--its AWFUL!

Take iiiiit! I have not been pg yet (TTC), but when my gastroparesis was bad, I was taking Zofran regularly for several months for nausea/vomiting. It helps. When I was REALLY sick I would take 8mg Zofran plus 25mg Phenergan which always worked, but it would knock me out for about 12 hours.
Just a word of advice about the Zofran: make sure to have some Miralax and/or stool stofteners on hand and take it when you're taking the Zofran. It can be very constipating (it was so for me).... like not be able to go for a week, which would make my nausea 10x worse.
Thankfully now my condition is under great control so I only have to take a Zofran maybe once every 3 weeks. But when I do, I start drinking Miralax right away and continue taking it for a few days. Otherwise my colon basically turns to concrete, LOL.

it didn't make the nausea go away, but it made a difference. i would ask for it & give it a try. i'm still getting nausea in the evenings at 29 weeks
and sometimes still take something for it.

I got the prescription and think I'm going to just take the Zofran. Last night I doubled up on the Unisom and still woke up at night wanting to puke, and this morning it did nothing at all. I think it's time.

I give my patients Zofran if they are really nauseous or vomiting. It helps. Hope you feel better!

It didn't take the nausea away completely for me, but it took away the vomiting. I do think it helped with the nausea somewhat, so it might work for you.

@spaniellove: it's time. Do it. Just have some fiber or prunes handy, especially if you take it more than once a day.
