I've been thinking head for when/if we have another baby and I'm thinking we'll need a double stroller. I am hoping for one that's not super bulky or heavy since I'm kind of small and it's hard for me to lug around. I also am not a fan of the kind where there's on kid sitting behind near the floor, it just makes me feel bad for the kid back there. So, is there a double stroller that you recommend?

for double strollers i looked into the city select, britax b ready, and the phil and teds. the phil and teds is probably the one you're thinking of with the second kid low to the ground (but most kids prefer to sit back there actually!). they just came out with the promenade though that looks really nice. but all double strollers are pretty heavy.
i think side by side strollers are easier to use, and that may be a better option if you live in the burbs or have some more space. they are sidewalk hogs here in ny, so they're not as practical.
i thought we would have to get a double stroller, but i've been able to put it off by wearing olive so far. we might just get a buggy board for charlie to stand on, and i think we might be able to get by without a double stroller (since we have no room anyway!). that might be another option for you if your kids are not too close together.

it really depends on what kind of an age gap your kids will have and what your needs are (suburb vs city life, etc...)
we went with a universal Lascal buggy board attached to our Snap N Go for a while. it was weird at first to push, but I got used to it after 2x. it worked out so well for about 3-4 months I was like, wow I can avoid a double stroller! BUT, i walk with my kids a lot. and i mean, a LOT. i live in NYC and don't have a car and we love to explore our neighborhood and be out and about. So yes, my 3 yo still needed a stroller because if she walked everywhere, it would take forever to get anywhere! also, on one excursion to our pediatrician, i felt sooo bad for my toddler because she was sooo sleepy on the buggy board that she actually fell asleep standing up. with winter coming up too, i just felt it would be nice for her to get a seat back again.
so we got the Uppa Baby Vista with a Rumble Seat attachment and it's been great. It transitions from single to double and it's just what we needed. My toddler actually loves to sit in the seat lower to the ground because her classmates in school with younger siblings do so too, so it's like "the big girl" chair. it's not convenient to lug around though, but since I just walk everywhere, and it's easy to avoid stairs here in the city, I've pretty much never had to lift or fold it. So, what works for me, might not work for you... But by the time you have two, there will probably be some even better options for siblings in strollers, so who's to say right now what would be good.
If you look into the ones Mrs Bee mentioned, those are some of the more popular double strollers for sure. There's also the Kinderwagon that you might like to consider. Side by sides are an option too, like the City Mini double or the Maclaren doubles, but I don't think they are the best choice for siblings that are too far apart (i think they are more practical with twins, while transition strollers might usually be the way to go with siblings). There's also a part you can buy to just keep two Maclaren's/umbrella strollers together.
You can even buy time in the beginning when #2 is small enough to be in a carrier for a while while #1 still strolls around and wait to see how things go then. Sometimes by that time #1 won't really need a stroller. Depends on your LO and how much you guys walk around.

This may sound heretical, but we aren't going to do a double stroller! We babywear early on and frankly LJ hates the stroller to begin with... so we're just going to babywear in Jack Jack's first year and then JJ will graduate to the stroller and LJ will be out and about on her own (which she already prefers).
No double BOB for us!

We're not planning on buying a double stroller either. My LO will be 2 1/2 when baby #2 comes and as of now, we plan on just buying a buggy board thing that attaches to our stroller for LO to stand. But we'll see when the time comes.

i chose the city select over the city mini - but i say go for the mini if you don't one behind the other.

We deliberately bought a pram that would take a second seat attachment. I think ours is similar to the Uppababy vista. I have spoken to Mums who have the second seat and they have all said it's great.
My problem with side-by-sides is that they are too wide. I can't imagine they would fit through a standard door, which would make them really inconvenient I would think.
Anyone have actual experience?? -
i have the double city micro, a side by side, and it fits through every doorway i've encountered yet, and no problems in supermarket aisles or anything like that. i do live in the semi-burbs though, not in a crowded walking city. it's also really easy to fold and put into the trunk.

My LO is only 2 mos old, but we started out with a stroller that has an extra seat. We are hoping for another one relatively soon, also we have lots of friends/family with babies very close in age and thought it might be handy if we're doing activities with them. We spent TONS of time researching, looked into most of those mentioned above, and ended up with the City Select. We love it! The biggest drawback most people complain about is that its heavy - I guess it is a little heavy but to us it just makes the stroller feel sturdier. We haven't used it much with the baby yet, but we did play with it a ton, both before and after buying ours, and find it super easy to use. I'm happy to answer any questions about it, I spent so much time researching strollers.

You've all given me so much to think about, and maybe we won't even need one! That would be nice and I guess another good reason to have kids a little further apart. If we do go the double route, it sounds like there are some good options out there.
