How do you dress your LO for plane travel to make for easy diaper changing? I always get cold on planes, so I want her to be warm enough, but I don't want to dress her in a bunch of layers and make it a nightmare to change her diaper. We have a 8.5 hour flight followed by a 3.5 hour layover and then another 2.5 hour flight. I need her to be comfy.

I've always put my kiddos in pj's that are separates to allow for ease of changing and comfort. Then I bring a sweater or hoodie. Is your LO sitting in your lap? Because that actually gets really warm.

@MamaBehr: She's booked as a lap infant but we're on the reserved list for a bassinet seat. I'm hoping for an extra seat so I can just take her carseat.

@zipplef can't you use her carseat in the stroller and then gate check it? That is what i have always done. I have never been lucky enough to be on a flight with an extra seat.... but at least the carseat was right there.
And, maybe it is because when I'm nervous I sweat, I have always been quite warm on planes with a baby. I would also recommend a blanket (when I was nursing I just used my nursing cover) which is easy to take off and put on (and cover her head when she's alseep)
That's a long flight! But I bet she is going to be amazing on it.

@MamaBehr: Haha, yeah, it's from London to St. Louis so it does take a while. International flights suck. The last time I flew home, my flight from Heathrow was less than half full so I'm hoping.
As for gate-checking, that's what I plan to do if I can't get an extra seat.

I bought a velour one-piece (on sale) for our international flight. I figure it's warm and more breathable than microfiber. I'll layer it with a sweater in case it's really cold. But it seems pretty thick and comfy enough.

I always have gone with the snapped jammies. My reasoning is warmth and it makes him look cuter to grumpy travelers.
I was able to lay him on my husband's lap and do a quick pee diaper change. We won the lottery and didn't have a poop diaper on any of our flights.

and both hooded and non-hooded fleece ones. Do you think the fleece or the cotton would be better? -
I put LO in snapped footies. Or any kind of footed one-piece that can be opened from the bottom.

I vote for cotton, I think the fleece is too warm to layer with.

We did sweatpants, shirt, zip-up hoodie. I think pants are easier for diaper changes because you can just pull them partially down and don't have to deal with snaps and such. I prefer to change LO in my lap if we have to do it on the plane...less gross to me than the bathroom.
I vote for cotton, I think the fleece is too warm to layer with.
