We got home from running errands this afternoon and DH noticed DS' eyelid is swollen and red. He's also been fussy and is slightly warm (99.9) Any idea what it could be?

We had a similar issue a few weeks ago that pedi said was orbital cellulitis. Around her entire eye was red and inflamed but the eye itself looked normal (so not conjunctivitis). She also had what could have been a small stye as well. My DD is neutropenic so they treated aggressively with 10 days of antibiotics right away. It improved and completely resolved within the first 3 days.

@gotkimchi: that was my guess too, but I'm not sure.
@anbanan15: I'm wondering if we should go to urgent care to get checked out. We could call our peds office and wait for a call back to see what they say.

@MrsTal: For my DD everything is a medical emergency. It was a Sunday and I called the on-call heme, which is our protocol. Heme wanted her seen that day by the pedi instead of risking an ER exposure since she did not have a fever. Pedi came into office to see her (we live 1.5+ hrs from heme/Children's hospital we use) and called abx right in. Now had it been my DS I probably would have waited until Monday to call and spoke with the nurse or scheduled an appointment. At the very least I would have called the on call pedi and seen what they wanted us to do if I was really concerned over the weekend.
ETA: hers was much more red and swollen though, but if you are concerned I would probably give the on call a ring.
