We had a Christmas party this week, and I had to entertain a lot of guests. So I was drinking in front of my parents... was surprised how weird it felt, because I don't do it often! There's a history of alcohol abuse in my mom's family, so I try to respect that. If it weren't for that, I would definitely drink in front of them more!

Yes. My dad is a recovered alcoholic, and I still don't feel weird about it, but he's totally fine with it. And I only ever drink a little anyway.

Yes, I do, and I feel comfortable with it. There's a history of alcoholism on both my mom's and my dad's side of the family. My parents wanted us to develop healthy habits with alcohol, so they allowed us to try and drink alcohol with them when we were teenagers. The logic was that we would know how it affected us, learn our limits, have it not be taboo, and feel comfortable with it. It worked well, and I plan to do the same with my kids.

as an adult, I drink maybe three drinks per year. I think this is absolutely because it was never off-limits, it's never been something special or alluring. I plan to do something similar with my LO.

Yes, my parents and most adults in our family drink regularly. Its not a big deal at all. My mom likes someone to have a "happy hour" with her when we come over- but she's in bed at 8 so it ends with her happy hour. My sisters and I have had weddings we drank too much at but our parents don't judge just make sure we're ok and someone is watching us- like I make sure my sister gets to bed or something. I don't drink heavily anymore but I did once in awhile in my 20s.,

I mostly only drink with my family lol. Especially because my husband doesn't drink and I rarely drink alone. It's never been taboo in my family though. I always got sips of my parents' drinks when I was a kid and by the time I was a teenager I was allowed a glass of wine with dinner.

Yeah - I don't get wasted in front of them or anything (but I don't really do that anyway, parents around or not) but I have no problem with having a few drinks or getting a little tipsy.

We drink with my parents all the time. No one is getting drunk, but a couple of glasses of wine with dinner is the norm.

I drink more with my family that I typically do any other time. It's never really been taboo, and I'm not a huge drinker to begin with.
When my sisters and I are at my parents, we tend to drink together - none of us have to drive home and we know we will have help with the LOs the next day, so it makes it a little easier to drink more than I normally would.

I have no problem drinking with my mom and step-dad, as they are both wine drinkers and almost always have a bottle open. I also have no problem drinking in front of my ILs, because all 3 of their sons drink and it doesn't phase them. I feel a bit more awkward in front of my dad because I very rarely saw him drink growing up, so I usually abstain or only have one beer or one glass of wine with him.

We drink with both our families, DH's family are bigger drinks but both sides offer you a beer/drink/glass of wine when you are there.

I definitely drink in front of my parents. My dad doesn't drink at all, but my mom loves a good martini or glass of wine. In fact, it was probably a good thing we weren't at my parents' for the holidays this year because someone probably would have suspected something if I wasn't drinking at all!
