For those of you who waited until your baby was born to name him/her, what was your experience like?
Did you come to the hospital prepared with a list of favorites and instantly "know" when you saw your LO's face?
I am hoping that happens to us, but I am having doubts.
Every day my tastes change and I am starting to get real flustered!

We don't have a name yet either - we have a few that we like and are waiting to see what name fits him : )

we chose the name before he was born, but had some other ideas in mind in case we changed our mind.. We ended up sticking with the name we chose though. I hope it works out for you! I remember feeling SO frustrated and just worrying our baby wouldn't have a name.

We have a list, but it grows or shrinks daily. Our goal is to head to the hospital with two names, and make the final decision once we meet her. Hopefully with around 12 weeks left, we can narrow it down to 2!

@Coco Bee: There are 4 names or so that I absolutely love, but they are all varying styles and I just don't know how easy it is going to be to pull the trigger on one of them!
I know this is really stupid but my DH's favorite name is in my top 4 . I think we were leaning towrads this name, but on my favorite baby name website it is only rated with "1.5 stars" in terms of user ratings. That means no one likes the name! Am I crazy for letting that deter me?

@Mrsdaredevil: haha not necessarily. I tested out our baby name on our closest family members, and looked it up online to see what people thought of it and if there were any famous people associations with the name. You want the name to have a positive connotation and not regret it in the long run.

We didn't have the name settled until my baby was about a week old! I KNOW! WE were RIDICULOUS. We were team green and we had a girl name and part of a boy name but we hadn't decided whether the boy name was to be a first name or middle name, and what the other name would be. Ultimately, we let him pick his name when we had it down to two finalists. We put each name on a little piece of paper and had him pick one with that awesome newborn grabbing reflex.

We haven’t picked out LO’s name yet (and I am so sick and tired of family asking us every day if we have!!!) – so you are not alone. 
My OB reassured me last appointment that she and her husband delivered both their daughters without having picked out their names. With their first daughter, my OB said she was named Rebecca for 1.5 days….then they just looked at each other and said “she is not a Rebecca” and changed her name.
I think/hope you’ll have a better feeling for a name once you see LO.

We are about 10 weeks out and still no baby name here either. We just can't agree. My DH knows the name he loves, but I'm not 100% on board with that and all the names I love, he doesn't. We have about 3 we can agree on. We are going to figure it out once we meet her and go from there. I can't wait to hear what you name her.

Girls names are the hardest! I have had several friends not know the name until several days after baby arrived... so do'n worry too much!

We only finalized when we saw our little ones. There is something to be said about staring into that baby's soul to know. As for the name being lowly rated, I'd just block that out. The good bet is that you're ahead of the curve.

@Mrsdaredevil: aw, don't let a poll of other people deter you. Your daughter's name is your daughter's name, not everyone else's daughter's name!! I think it's wonderful that you may wait until you meet her to name her. I think that is so very special.

We went in being team green and pretty sure of our girls name and a few options for boys. When she came out, it was hard because people start asking the name right away. We were pretty sure but didn't get a lot of time to discuss alone.

We had a name.... but just wanted to say good luck! I have a friend who took a couple of days in the hospital to figure it out, and they ended up picking a beautiful name for their LO.

You have to sign up for an account, and then you can add your favorite names to "lists" (I have one list for boys names, one for girls names). Once your lists are made, people rate your names on a scale of 1-5 stars. Most of the names on my list have 3-4 stars or so, except the one that's my DH's favorite! LOL Nameberry is by far my favorite name website.

As you know - we have two names that DH and I are debating. And we've reached an agreement that we'll just wait until she's here to make the final call.
Don't worry about it - my parents had my name locked down before I was born. And when I arrived, they changed their minds because I "didn't look like" the name they picked out.

We found our name simply because we just liked 1. ha.
So even if her "face" doesn't fit the name we chose (Sienna) she won't have a choice to grow into it.
Honestly... some people take time to find their name. It's a big decision it's a lifetime decision. I hope you find one.

@Mrsdaredevil: Nothing wrong with taking your time! Just *try* not to put too much pressure on yourselves! Things will work out and something will fit, you just need your baby to arrive to get to know her better!
We picked our son's name after seeing his face off of a 3D/4D ultrasound, we were lucky- but that doesn't mean we didn't question the heck out of our decision after he was born! We stuck to our guns, and now he very much fits the name we gave him.

I'll remind you that when I spent the time with my little guy, I had an automatic name for him (which WASn't the name we had picked out......and we stuck with the name we picked out anyways). Maybe you will have an experience where the name just comes to you when you are alone with her.

We didn't come up with a name until a week before LO arrived! We initially planned on having a list of 3 names and naming her after we saw her face.
When we came up with what we named her, we knew it was perfect and knew it would fit her.

We had a favorite when we went in but we waited until we saw her. She ended up with the name we had picked beforehand because it seemed the right fit.

We had a list for boys and girls going into the hospital, but we weren't sure for the first two days after the birth, so we waited to fill out the paperwork. Now he for sure fits the name we gave him!
