Anyone else get the flu or a cold during their first trimester? I'm almost five weeks and have a sore throat and feel feverish. I hope it goes away soon! I can't see the doctor until Thursday, by which most of the time my temperature has gone down. Other than that they said to go to urgent care, but I don't really think it's worth it at this point. Going to get a thermometer tonight to monitor it...
Any tips/tricks/advice?

Get a thermometer (which you already plan to do), if your temp is elevated AT ALL take tylenol, 1 tab every 4-6 hours, make sure it is effective in bringing your temp down. The flu virus shouldn't harm the baby, but an uncontrolled fever will! If your temp is quite high, take the tylenol first, then take a cool shower to help bring your temperature down. Otherwise drink plenty of fluids, take your vitamins and rest!

I had a very bad virus (possibly the flu) at 10 weeks. I had horrible fevers and chills for 24-36 hours along with a bad runny nose and sore throat. Then I had bad bouts of coughing that took a few weeks to go away. At 11.5 weeks, my illness turned into mild sinusitis and I was put on antibiotics. It was horrible and I worried about the baby the entire time. Thankfully the baby was/is fine! I actually got sick two more times during the pregnancy (yup, once a trimester), but not as bad as the first time. What got me through was staying in bed as much as possible, hot tea, lots of fluids, personal steam machine, vicks, cough drops, puffs tissue, and tylenol for high fevers. hang in there and feel better soon!

It's possible your immune system is a little out of whack from implantation. I got a little cold before I found out I was pregnant. Recently, I found out that I have UTI and am antibiotics now.

I got a cold right around the 6 week mark. My midwife said it wasn't a big deal as long as there was no fever involved. If you can keep your fever down I think you're ok.

I got a cold around 7 weeks.. it was awful, I drank plenty of fluids and had lots of honey and lemon. My doctor told me I could use a saline solution to relieve congestion as well but I ended up toughing it out

Thank you all for the responses! I ended up taking my temp every couple of hours and it was only about 1 degree over "normal" and only for the one night so I drank lots of water and slept, and luckily felt better the next day.
